Anyone actually receive the new planner?

I tried to ask a CM at a kiosk in front of the new DVC wing at the Contemporary last week, and she told me that management has warned them about giving away the dates that the planners will be sent. Anyone that gives away any information regarding the distribution of vacation planners will be terminated immediately. Then she said to wait for a big announcement regarding the exact day that the planners will ship. She also told me that they are going to put out a billboard that will announce the day. Just look for the billboard in front of Bonnet Creek. This month the billboard will read "Have you heard about the best kept secret?" By next month, the banner will read "2008 planners sent on 1/21." In fine print, the billboard will announce the new DVC villas in Bakersfield, California.

I have decided that they aren't sending them in hopes that we will all stop making day to day reservations 11/7 months out. Then hopefully the "why can't I make reservations 3 weeks out" threads will die down here:rotfl:

My 2008 planner is already becoming well worn. If someone needs something specific from it I am happy to try to look it up. It has great artwork but the general layout is the same as last years.

So tell me, is there the information about the trades etc and the new "rules" that we need to see?

Got mine in the mail yesterday:banana:
Now I have something to read while sitting waiting for my husband's car to get rust proofed this morning.
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

In Michigan...

But I am in the process of buying and they were handing them out on the DCL NYE Magic Cruise...

So I guess I don't really count.

The new banking rules, "rule of 4", etc. are all in there. The II section does not give point cost for stays less than one week in a one or 2 bedroom. It does include the change about the booking fee being $95.

The MS hours listed do not include the recent change to be open 7 days a week.

Maybe the one that I have is from the "1st printing"? We just picked it up on Jan.2.

Hmmm, it does sound like you don't have much of the new information, so hopefully there really IS a new printing that will include all that new stuff we want to have at our fingertips.

If the planner is supposed to contain the new II info. then there must be a new printing. However, when we went to the DVC "meet" on the wonder last week, the guide did not indicate that there was a problem with a 1st printing. He mentioned the II changes but did not go into detail.

Anyway, it is still fun to have something even if it is not complete!:goodvibes

Global Mom, where do you live? Are you in the US or Canada or elsewhere?

I am in Georgia but did not receive the planner in the mail.

It was really bugging me that we had not received the planner as of the end of Dec so when we were in WDW on Dec. 31-Jan. 3 I sent DH to the SSR sales office to pick one up. He just had to show his member card and they were happy to give it to him.

They made no mention that it was a "1st printing" or said anything about mistakes. I would hate to think that they would hand them out if they knew that it was going to be replaced.

Is it certain that the planner is being reprinted?

Got mine today! I'm in Ontario, Canada. Mine appears to be the same "version" that Global Mom received.

For those of you who have received your planners, look at the points chart for DLP. Under that chart the paragraph should say one of 2 things. Tickets to the parks are included with the reservation, or you have to purchase length ot stay tickets with your reservation. The former would be the first printing, the latter the revised printing to keep DVC from eating the cost of park tickets since starting this year they lowered the point requirements for DLP but excluded the tickets.

I have yet to receive the planner as well. We are in Houston, TX.
Do we need to call MS to request one or just keep waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

Jim.

The planner that I have states that you must buy DLP tickets for the length of stay. It does NOT say that the tickets are included so therefore I must have the "correct" planner.

Thanks for pointing this out Simzac! :goodvibes

You don't have to wait. Just look at the previous years and figure out the corresponding dates according to the current calandar. The only things that change are the dates for Easter and Thanksgiving. If you look at the old planner, you will see that 2007 had March 1-31 in Magic but this year it is 1-15 and 30-31. The reason is that Easter is March 23, so 16-29 becomes Premier season this year.

Diane, You are right. Why wait for the planner? I decided to look at the points charts online and... wouldn't ya know it, they've got the 2009 points charts online on the member website. April 5-18 and Dec. 24-31 are the only dates listed in the Premier season in 2009.

The season dates for DL have also changed as they added "super value season" and shifted some springtime dates. It is listed on the website but it is good to note the changes if you are making plans using the old planner.
