I just got an email from them offering to wave the joining fee on The Qantas Club. Worth about $250. Takes it down to $525 for the year. If you are travelling on an eligible ticket you can get into their lounges... might be nice if you are off to Disney on one of the Qantas flights in the next year. :rolleyes1

(Unfortunately for us, I just booked our flights via Air NZ, so not worth picking up the free offer as we are broke until then! :lmao:)

Oh interesting - I wonder why they don't email me! I can get membership through my office and they charge about $475 - I am still wondering if a free drink and a square of cheese is worth it.

BTW: they take a long time to process applications - like a month - so if you decide to join give them plenty of time

It's worth every cent! (assuming you fly with QANTAS or a partner airline). The free drink and square piece of cheese is just the icing. The checking in at the business/QClub line instead of with the hoards for one. The priority baggage, the extra baggage allowances on most sectors. The preference seating which is mostly catered for, especially on the tourist flights. Having somewhere to sit and relax before the flight, not with the crowds. Clean uncrowded toilets, shower if needed, and just that little bit of flexibility before boarding is worth it. I've been a member for about 12 years now, and will renew for a long time yet.

Comes in very handy when travelling with the family. We have been very lucky and all four (2 children) have been permitted into the lounges on just the one membership. Don't know if I would purchase just for myself.

I used to have QC and let it go. Cause i tend to fly premium economy i get the easy check in and the extra baggage allowance. and I found that the club was noisier than outside on some days - e.g. Sydney on a Friday afternoon when they have the free wine/beer tastings and you can't get a seat. and Brisbane is always chocka! I began sitting outside to have the peace and quiet.

Also found when overseas more often the lounges were not the same quality. in SFO there was no food, no alcohol, 2 little teeny rooms with about 20 seats.

I tend to just wander the shops, find a quiet corner and browse the internet these days

This is the first year we didn't QC before - and we let our memberships go this year. I'm kind of glad we did as we probably wouldn't of used it anyway (see trip report.)

I work for a large corporate and our rate is about $250/year. But with the 5 of us this year and we've found them enforcing the one guest policy prior we decided to let it go.

But for DH and I (and DD) we love it.
