I've had two acupuncture treatments in the hope of curing the tinnitus I've had for almost a year now. The first was last Tuesday evening and I didn't notice any difference. I tried it again this past Tuesday evening. This time it was a more "intense" session. He manipulated the needles every few minutes. The ones in my right leg and right arm hurt so much he took them out. I don't know much about acupuncture so I don't know if this was an indication that something was happening or not. I just know I couldn't tolerate the pain.

Anyway, the result yesterday and today is that my tinnitus is MUCH LOUDER!

The accupuncturist thinks this is not a bad thing because he feels as least we have effected it, which is the first step in curing it. Of course, he doesn't have to live with the jet engines I now have in my ears 24/7. :headache:

I don't know how I feel about this. Do I go back with the hope that he WILL be able to cure it? Or should I not go back because now I am afraid it's going to get even louder?

BTW, I have been to my GP and two ENT's. I've had a Apparently there is nothing wrong medically that could be causing my tinnitus. :confused3

My DH is has been dealing with this problem too. He interested in knowing if this type of treatment will help you in long run and what brought the tinnitus on for you. Does it fluctuate at all during the week?

I have no idea what started it, Vivianne. It started last summer for no apparent reason. Every doctor has a different opinion of why it MIGHT have started...stress, diet, allergies, loud noises, heart problems (I have none), high blood pressure (Nope), vitamin deficiency, illness (Nope).

That's the problem. No one seems to know.

Prior to the accupuncture it would be quieter in the morning when I woke up and get louder as the day prgressed. Now it's loud all the bleeping time! :headache:

I'll keep you posted. Believe me if this works I'll make sure you know so you can tell DH! Its an awful thing to have.

Thanks Judy,

DH is at a loss as to why he has it. He's had it over a year. He tries to read everything he can to find a cure. His fluctuates, he get two good days and then the ringing comes back again which is depressing. I hope there is something out there for this problem. Like you said, it's awful and I wish I could help.

I've had tinnitis now for about two years and just recently it has been getting worse. It drives me nuts.

Let me know if the acupuncture works. I know it worked for my quitting smoking 11 years ago. :)

I have had it for over 12 years now due to hearing loss-- I am assuming you have been tested for that. My hearing aids mask some of the noise unless it is really quite. I haven't tried accupuncture but I am a baby when it comes to shots so I probably won't.

You need to go back. When he inserted the needles he turned it "up" instead of "down". Sorry-quite lame. I have tinnitus too and am just dealing with it.
Please do let us know if you find a solution, I'd love to give it a shot (oops, another lame needle joke).
