We are preparing for our first trip as a family to WDW. I have heard about the Pal Mickey Dolls and I am looking for feedback about...Do you recommend buying one? Did you actually use it with the kids? Do they get in the way? How much are they at the park? Do you recommend Ebay?

Thanks so much for your guidance!

Taking our 4 babies (ds7, ds5, ds3 & our little girl turning 2 at WDW) and 2 grandparents and 1 uncle to the World for the first time in September!

It depends on your kids. My ds loves stuffed animals and usually has one in hand so I knew he wouldn't mind carrying Pal Mickey around. Ours has a clip on his back so ds would just clip PM to his waistband or drink strap. He loved listening to PMs comments after the rides. In AK, PM will tell you what animals you are seeing along the trails too. We bought ours from ebay for around $45 including shipping. It's the Sorcerer Mickey version which I believe is the most currrent version. I think a new one costs about $65 without tax in the parks. We'll definitely take our PM with us next year too.

We bought one off ebay and that is what I recommend you do if you can get a decent deal for a newer model.

Here's my personal opinion though - I found that after carrying him around for a couple of days he was repeating a lot of the same stuff and we already had enough stuff to carry so after a while we started to forget him and leave him in our room. We actually forgot PM altogether on our last trip and left him at home! We will take him along next time though. DS is four now so he might enjoy having him along a little bit more this time so we'll give it another shot.

We love our pal mickey. We used him for 2 trips. We may buy a new one this trip! He isnt too much of a bother to carry around and DS8 got a kick out of him!
me :cloud9: DH:cool1: DS8:yay:

My kids love him. We bought him a few years ago at WDW, but I don't remember how much he cost.

When we first got PM, my kids were 4 & 2. The 4 y/o loved it and the 2 y/o just thought it was a stuffed animal. We bought one PM and they took turns with it.

The next year trip they were 6 & 4 and both loved it! We brought him again this past April. The kids were 7 & 5 and they were really interested in what he had to say. And they just loved to tell us all of the jokes that PM told them! Hey, those jokes are hysterical...if you're under 10! ;)

We plan on bringing him until the kids no longer use him, but I feel like I definitely got my money's worth already. :)

I just got one off ebay (for a great price:thumbsup2 much cheaper than at disney), the kids love listening to him at home and can't wait to "talk" with him at Disney in Sept - even DH thinks PM is cool. Ours came with a lanyard and also a belt clip, the kids actaully agreed to share him and each take turns "wearing" him.

i'm sorry to say we own one and never have used, & truthfully have no plans to ever use it. We got it because of it's uniqueness, and because we thought it would be useful, but turns out we knew where we were going, and never found the info he gave us very useful

Implement more things for Pal Mickey to say when walking around the parks. I thought his responses were very limited.

Hi,

I had heard a lot about PM here, so I bought one on EBay prior to our trip in May. I got a fairly good deal ($48 with shipping), but still didn't think he was worth it. Maybe my kids are too young (4 and 2)... they really didn't have any interest in him at all when they were in the parks... too many things to look at - and he didn't provide any useful infomation any time I could actually hear him (he was really hard to hear - I had to hold him right up to my ear and still had a hard time hearing what he was saying). All I ever heard come out of his mouth was dumb jokes. We are going back Labor Day week, and we are leaving him at home. And actually, I have been planning to re-sell him on EBay. I will say that the experiece of buying him on EBay was a very positive one. I bought from gamaof5sofar - or something like that. Again, my kids are evry young, so that might have something to do with why I didn't care for him too much.

Hmmm, I never thought to ask this, thanks! Maybe we'll skip it, b/c my oldest will only be 4. I'll look on ebay though and see if my friends here might have one that have gone recently.

My DD are 10 and 4. Do you think they will enjoy the Pal Mickey? My DH has his heart set on buying each of them one, but truthfully if they are not worth it then I do not want to s$150 of them. If they shared one of them, then I think it would just be a big fight.

I absolutely adore all three of my Micks (bought one of each version). I'm 45 going on 10. One of the best things is the people I meet through conversations struck up on the bus/queue/boat/etc. as a result of Mick being "my pal".

I admit, I'm obsessed. He has a rather extensive wardrobe (owns more shoes than I do). But he's a lot of fun, especially for the kiddos.

The YOAMD version had dialog added for all the new attractions...plus, in addition to his standard games and jokes, he will sing songs.

. . . any time I could actually hear him (he was really hard to hear - I had to hold him right up to my ear and still had a hard time hearing what he was saying).

The latest version (Sorceror Mickey) is louder than the 2 prior versions, just in case that makes a difference in anyone's decision making process.

We also got ours from eBay from gamaof5sofar (I believe that was it), and were pleased - SUPERfast shipping.

HTH!
