Anybody use HP dark transfers and skip vinegar?

I was just wondering if any of you that have used the HP dark transfers have ever skipped the vinegar wash and not had any running problems. I can't decide whether to do this step before our trip or not. I already did it with one shirt that was red and had some red on the transfer and although I feel like it still looks pretty good it definently looked better before, but I would rather that than have them running all over the place on the trip.

I used HP dark transfers and did not do the vinegar wash. I did spray some of my shirts with scotch gard though. The ones that had a lot of black in them, all my mickey head ones and all my MNSSHP shirts, I sprayed. They didn't run at all. One other shirt had a lot of red in it, I didn't spray that one, and it ran when we got caught in the rain.

Thanks for your reply. It reminded me about the scotchguard which I had completely forgotten about.
