I had a couple of questions and I wanted something more than the official spiel. Anyone out there, that can help???

I worked for a health insurance company for 3.5 years, but it wasn't Aetna. If nobody else replies, you're welcome to ask me and I can try and answer based on my knowledge from my old job.

I just wanted to know if it was a call center type environment? It is a customer service position. TIA :surfweb:

Hi!!

I don't work for Aetna, however I do medical billing for a large hospital and I have to call Aetna regularly. Not sure if this helps, but the position is probably to handle incoming calls from Dr's office's and hospitals regarding patients claims and to check pt's eligibilty. Not sure the specifics of the job your applying for, but you could probably ask them what the job duties require. Good Luck! :sunny:

My DW has worked for Aetna for 24 years. She was just allowed to start working at home 5 days a week. She is in heaven.

I worked for Aetna a few years ago.. I processed insurance claims and have also worked in their customer service.. I'll pm you and I'll see if I can help...

I've worked for the same life/health insurance company for over 26 years(not Aetna, though). I know our Customer Service Reps are most definitely in a call center environment. I did it for a couple of years part-time and did enjoy it, for the most part. Our company does not believe in work-at-home, but not sure why. I know I'd get more work done in the peace and quiet of my home. Just be sure you know the hours expected of you as they like to gloss over that fact before you're employed.

My mom worked for them for a few years and was able to work from home, she reviewed policies/treatments to figure out what was going to be the best for patients like in-home care vs nursing home, etc. I don't remember her title. She loved working for them.
