The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT....my sister just bought one and I am wondering how easy it is to use and how good the pics are that this camera takes??? Just curious would love input from you guys.
Thanks,
Kristy

Sorry, can't help with that one, but I just bought a Panasonic Digital FZ5 and it is the best camera out of about 12 digitals (non-slr) that our family owns! The quality is outstanding!! I can't wait to take it to Disney. . .

Hi, I have the Canon Digital Rebel XT camera. I absolutely love it! I have had it for a few months and took it to Hawaii in early June. Great pics! It is pretty easy to use in the auto mode and not much more difficult in the creative zones. I would suggest playing with it a few days prior to leaving to get familiar with it. The guide book that comes with it is pretty clear and easy to understand. When my pics don't come out well it is almost always the photographer's fault not the camera. Anyway good luck and feel free to write if you have any other questions. I will be heading to WDW the 2nd week of August. First trip for my XT too.

Simply put.. one of the best out there!! Pretty simple to use. Keep it in automatic mode if you are not familiar with the finer points of manual settings.

oh yeah... take a spare memory card... It is very, very rare.. but the memory card can get damaged.. if you have two and swap every now and then, you should pretty much guarantee that you will have one with vacation photo's.

Yes, it is a very good camera. However, DSLRs are a bit more cumbersome than point and shoot digicams. If you don't mind changing lenses, having more to carry etc, then it is a great choice.

For me, I prefer something a little smaller, with a longer reach, at least for situations like WDW. I recently picked up the Canon PowerShot S2 IS, and I like it very well. It has a bigger zoom that you will get on the Rebel (without having to buy a new lens), and has image stabilization to help avoid blurry shots.

Don't get me wrong, a DSLR will take better pictures than a PnS, but they are more work. Have to weigh the trade-offs.

Not really, there is a "green-zone" on any dSLR and it will make your dSLR functions as a point and shoot, but with virtually no shutter lag, much-much better low-light auto focus and picture quality. And if you just buy a dSLR couple with a Sigma 18-200mm lens (around US$300 for the lens) you will not see the need of changing lens (unless you want to go serious in photography).
