Anybody NOT like POFQ?

This is why there are so many resorts at WDW. Everyone has a different taste!

For me, I love POFQ!:lovestruc It has all I want in a resort. It is small and compact which is good for my leg problem.

I agree about the food court being on the small side and the gift shop. However, either a short walk or boat ride and I can go to the food court and gift shop at POR.

I think that the themeing is beautiful. I love the little courtyards in front of each building.

To me, it is the best!

No, I love POFQ.
There will always be someone who will dislike any resort.
Is this thread just created as a put down for POFQ?
How can that be very helpful?

OP here again!

No, this thread was definately not created to be a put down for PORQ. I'm just concerned because I'm in control of booking a trip for 2 other people and I want to make the right choice. I choise POFQ mainly because it's small, and I don't want to be trecking all over to get to the pool, food court, etc. But I asked for opinions and that's what I wanted. Theming is very important to me too, so I want to know if it's on the "bland side". The bus situation is also a concern for me. How would I know what people dislike if I didn't ask?

I didn't take it as it was meant to be a put down for POFQ! ;)

I (and most everyone else) totally understand that you just want to know what to expect, and then you can make an educated decision.

Good luck and have fun whatever you decide! :wizard:

Excellent post!!! We always hear nothing but the good stuff about a resort, we are staying at POFQ this Thanksgiving and have read lots of good things, some bad things about the busing situation were mentioned by lots of people, but that is about it. I like the idea that you asked what folks dislike about a resort as well. If you are a decision maker at work, don't you want to know both the positives and the negatives before you make a final decision? You need to weigh all your options before making a decision, personally, I'm glad you asked!!!

We have stayed at all the moderates multiple times and prefer POFQ to all others.

I could rationalize paying the higher price for this particular moderate over a value (mainly Pop because that is the only value I will stay at)

BUSES: NIGHTMARE! There were sometimes when the bus would FQ w/o stopping at POR and sometimes we would share with POR both coming and going. Getting on the bus was very unorganized. Just a mob of people. No line or courtousy occurring. At Pop no sharing of buses and there is an actual que to keep it organized. At neither place did we have to actually wait long at all for a bus, coming or going.

ROOM CLEANLINESS: HORRIBLE! Stains, floor trash, etc. Question...did they ever clean after the last party left, doesn't seem so! We were in Bldg. 1 3rd floor. Mousekeeping was bad too. 2 out of 4 days we had to request someone to come back!

MAIN BUILDING: My only response is...that big head leading into the lobby from the pool side.... it creeps me out.

FOOD COURT: definately much less crowded than POP, it has the typical WDW counter service foods. I am neutral on this.

OVERALL: My biggest problem was the bus system and room cleanliness. Our refrigerator (had 2 replacements) never was cold. It was definately not worth the extra money to me and it was lacking something that I could not put my finger on.

It's funny how different people see things completely different. Like another poster said, that's why it's such a wonderful thing that Disney offers so many properties for every interest!

I stayed at CBR my first time staying on property and hated it. I felt it was VERY hotel-ish.. theming was poor... food court seemed very very small to me!... the pool was boring.. the hot tub always full of playing children.. beach was nice to look at but we weren't allowed in the water...

POFQ is now my resort of choice. I thought the theming was GORGEOUS and very cosistant. Love the aligators leading to the pool.. gave that extra disney feel. Very small but VERY uncrowded.. food court an ok size but ALWAYS plenty of seats to choose from. customer service was AWSOME. Room was clean... buses never an issue (well, once one was VERY slow in coming but when one DID come they were VERY apologetic)

I love this resort and can't wait to return!! :thumbsup2

I only visited the resort and it was ok....just ok.Like some said not a Disney feel to it...

I have to smile when people say how quiet the resort is. When we stayed there, I found the air condtioning unit to be extremely noisy (it was at the end of a split stay with POP - much quieter rooms there). Also after a poor nights sleep because of the air con, we were awakened early on 2 of our 4 nights there by workers cleaning the exterior of the buildings with a very large and noisy water hose.

This is a very beautiful resort. I just returned yesterday from a week stay. Even with the pool being closed we enjoyed it so much. I am returning again in August and have reservations for ASMU. There will be 7 of us and I hope to be able to upgrade to this resort if for nothing else then the peacefulness you can enjoy here after a long day running around in the parks.

I am not a naysayer! I ADORE this resort.
I will agree, the gift shop and food court leave a little to be desired....
However, I do not eat at the food courts and I get most of my gifts at DTD or in the parks, so both of these problems are not problems for me.
I love the quaint, quiet, relaxed feel of POFQ. I love The smallness and I love the music you hear walking around.

I am a naysayer of POR. I found it to be lacking something....

My point is- different strokes for different folks. Every one likes/dislikes things for different reasons.

What do you like?

:lovestruc

My Favorite Moderate Resort and LOVE IT to DEATH!!!

SO much to do great rooms and love the pool and the atmosphere is great and also the food court is GREAT. get a milk shake! The best I have ever had!

I Love POFQ! Both of our stays have been wonderful and we've had the best Mousekeeping there. We don't eat in the food court and usually do our gift shopping at the parks so I can't speak on that.

We're looking forward to spending Christmas '09 there!

I really do like this resort, It's not to big and it so very peaceful it doesnt have a loud theme, and it feels so cozy. I love going back to this resort after a long day at the parks and just relaxing. And because it's small the walks to the bus stop or food court are all in a short walking distance. I can not find anything bad to say...:goodvibes

We LOVED POR-FQ!!! We've recommended this resort to several of our friends and families and they have also loved POR-FQ. Trash, dirty rooms, ect are a problem resort wide, doesn't matter if you're in a deluxe, mod, value, DVC villa. These things happen! Things to consider are the overall theming of the resort, the ammenities offered, ect. Yes, shared bussing does stink, but there is a good bit of shared bussing resort wide now. Hopefully Disney will be improving their resort transportation because this has really been a problem the last couple of years. All in all, we've been VERY happy with POR-FQ, but every resort is not for every person. We stayed in the values for several trips and grew tired of the crowds, the noise and the general chaos.

We stayed at POFQ last May. We were very excited to stay there as we had heard good things about it. I have to say, this was the first time we were ever disappointed in anything Disney.

We didn't hate the place, but we will not be going back. Hard to explain. It was just "lacking" something. Or maybe many things. The rooms were a bit dark and gloomy. I think it was the dark wood on the furniture. The food court was really lacking in size and choices. And the service at the food court was awful. The grounds were very pretty, but just boring. There was nothing to see there really. We had previously stayed at CBR and loved to walk around the beautiful white sand beaches, the bridge, the island, and just take in the whole atmosphere. At POFQ there were some street signs and a river and that was about it! Very small. Housekeeping was just so-so.

The whole place just really lacked the Disney magic.

The buses weren't too much of an issue for us. After the first ride we knew to add on an extra 15-20 minutes to the ride time because of the 4 stops at POR.

What was nice about POFQ ~ Well you really can't be put in a bad building. Everything is close to everything. The bus stop is conveniently located. And the pool is very awesome!

It wasn't a horrible experience or anything, we sure didn't let is ruin our vacation. We just didn't care for it much.

(Hi Shel- )

OP, I am going to give you a different view of Shelly's post...
She and I are friends; we met here on a different thread before our last trips last year. We both stayed at POFQ at the same time in different buildings. She was with her family (2 children) and I was with my DH.

Everything she disliked about POFQ, I loved.

I loved the fact that the resort was small and compact. I loved that I could walk from one end of the resort to the other in under 5 minutes. I loved the dark wood of the rooms. I thought housekeeping was awesome. We got towel animals everyday. I don't think Shelly got any.:confused3

I loved the theming of the resort. I loved the fact that I didn't have the "Disney Magic" thrown in my face from the time my eyes popped open until I dragged my poor, tired body to bed at night. After a long day of being around crowds for 12 hours at the parks, I like nothing more than to sit in peace and tranquility, listening to the sounds of crickets chirping while I soak my feet (or body) in the hot tub.;)

I loved waking early in the mornings before the world comes to life and walking over to grab a cup of coffee, then taking it down to the river to watch the birds and wildlife waking up, and listening to the river lapping at the sides of the river bank. I loved being able to walk over to POR and visually understanding why I never want to stay at that resort. (For me, I did not care for the sheer size of it, and the crowded food court really turned me off.)

I loved hearing the "clip-clop" of the horse and carriage, and the gas lanterns at night as I strolled the resort hand in hand with my DH.
I will say that POFQ reminds me of my hometown, Charleston SC, so maybe that is what appeals to me.

I think that POFQ might appeal more to adults than to kids, or even to parents on vacation with kids; however, we will be staying there with our children in October. So we will see what they think.

They have previously stayed at POP, and we really, really couldn't stand it. Even the kids said they disliked it. I know many people loved it, though, and so I understand when people say they don't like a resort.

We rented a car, so the busses were a non issue for us. As was the food court. We never eat breakfast, and that would have been the only time we'd use the food court. We stay in the parks from rope drop until closing each night.

I think ultimately, what this thread has proven, is that everyone has their own ideas about what they look for in a resort. You just have to try them all until you find one you love. One of the last things that sealed it for me was the first night we drove back in to POFQ after being at MK all day and when we pulled up to the gate, my DH rolled down the window to tell the guard to "Have a great night" and before DH could say anything, the guard said "Welcome Home!!". As we pulled off, DH looked at me and I at him, and we both smiled. Because to us, it was like coming home. We had found our resort.:cloud9:

Good luck with whatever you decide!!!

Jo
