Anybody NOT like POFQ

If you have stayed at POFQ and did not like it, please tell me why? I think I want to stay there on our next trip, mainly because of the New Orleans theme.

I have read quite a few complaints about smoke and although I am not a smoker, people smoking outside does not bother me.

Any other reasons why you didn't/don't like POFQ?

The only thing that I do not like is the double beds that are in all the values and the moderates. I feel that for a family of four, it makes for some uncomfortable sleeping. My kids were disappointed with the "slowness" of the slide. The bed issue always makes me want to go delux or Swan if we can get a good discount.

The one thing I don't like about POFQ is only one pool. No quiet pools which we usually prefer since we are 2 adults. I like to take a book and read by the pool the main pools are usually loud since the kids all like the slides.

We stayed at POFQ and didn't care for the shared buses. Yes, POFQ is picked up first and dropped off first but everyone loads together when leaving the parks. So if you have strollers and young ones, just be prepared.

POFQ only has one pool.

We also didn't like the fact that they do not have their own sit down restaurant.

The only negative my family has was that the boat to Downtown Disney can be a long wait if you arrive at the wrong time. Otherwise, the resort was AMAZING and I reccommend it any day!

we didn't but not because of the resort itself, which is very pretty, but the CM's were surly at best and downright rude at worst ...... from the moment we checked in we had attitude from them and when I called down to see if we could get our room changed I was given verbal abuse and advised I had booked a parking lot view room .... wow this is impressive given there is no such category!!! We found the food court lacking compared to the All Stars and after 2 days we actually asked Guest Services to move us to the All Stars resort where the CM's were delighted to see us and made us very welcome.

So nothing bad about the resort itself, unfortunately the staff let it down so badly we will never return.

we didn't like the bus transport. It's fine that you get picked up first but then you go to al the stops at POR. The buses were very busy and we would be the only guests left after the parks closed still waiting for buses to take us back, when all the other resorts had cleared their stands. The boat to DTD was lovely but if it became bad weather the bus back was a nightmare and took over 30 mins.

I would stay there again as the resort itself is beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable and the smallness of the resort is nice but we would only stay there with a rental car.

Outside corridors, people smoking outside our room, double beds, no table service restaurant onsite, the buses (all those stops at POR), being away from the magic, lack of express checkout even though it was requested (stood in line for 45 minutes), no valet parking. My girls biggest problem with the pool was the lack of speed on the slide( previously mentioned) and the fact that they turned it off at 10PM during the heat of summer.

Hi

:thumbsup2 Just wanted to add my two cents. After having stayed at value and deluxe, we decided to try a moderate for our trip this past December. We (hubby, son and I) stayed in a standard room in Building 5 at POFQ and loved it. The best things were small size of resort, easy to get around and no walking a mile back to room after getting off the bus. Very pretty property and rooms were a nice size, also had no smoking and no problems with smells, etc. Very quiet and the pool was great. Also really nice to have boat to DD, as going by bus is always a nightmare. Buses to parks were frequent and always got a seat. They go to Riverside sometimes and no one got a seat there. Food court was great and one night we took boat to Riverside and had dinner at Boatwrights (very good also). Would stay again in a heartbeat. Can think of no negatives.

totally agree with Reggie MCP. we had a great time@ POFQ & are returning again this year. We had no problem with the buses, a couple of nights @ park closing they had separate buses for POFQ & POR. No smokers outside our rooms & it was very quiet at night. Did the boat ride to DTD - very enjoyable. The day we left express checkout was complete with no prblems at all. Can't wait to return to POFQ.

Not all of them. AKL does not. And neither does CSR our favorite resort.

Just a comment, and sort of a question about the shared buses. POFQ has only one stop. I never counted the ones at POR, but there were only a few. I would assume with the size of the other mod's that there must be several stops within those resorts. So what the heck is so much better about that as compared to POFQ/POR? :confused3

I think you'll find pros and cons at all the resorts, but they're all loved by someone. We preferred POR to POFQ by a slight margin b/c we like the feel of the sprawling, large resorts and we liked the quiet pools. Most folks like the compactness of POFQ. But all in all we LOVED both of the resorts and we'd stay in either of them again in a heartbeat. We're trying CSR this time just for something different.

First, CSR doesn't share and only has 4 internal stops compared with 8 at CBR. CSR only has 1921 rooms compared with 1000 at POFQ and 2048 at POR. That's a lot of rooms and guests sharing buses.

From allearsnet.com "Buses that service the French Quarter, also serve all 4 bus stops of the Riverside, which causes some crowding, and unpleasantness during the busy seasons. The boat also services both the French Quarter, and the Riverside, but not as many people use the boats. So if you are going to either Downtown Disney, or Pleasure Island and have some time on your hands, use the boat service."

837 rooms - opened to guests on November 14, 1997

1>Housekeeping was AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. (we spoke to the manager about it).
2>Only one pool (we were on our honeymoon and looove quiet pools)
3>Food Court (we find the ones at the mother mods and even the POP one better) was lacking cleanliness.
4>Gift shop CM were very rude

It's unfortunate that we had these problems with the service b/c we LOVE the resort itself, it's very pretty and we love the room decor. But CSR is our all time fave!

Just tossing in my two cents. We have stayed at CBR and CSR before we stayed at POFQ last year. We liked CBR, except we were the on the last stop and that wasn't great. Same goes for CSR, almost last stop, far from food court (which we really hated), our room was a little disappointing. Although it was supposed to have been refurbished within a couple of years, the dresser drawers were broken and fell out of the tracks during our entire stay. We absolutely loved POFQ. We almost always had a full bus in the morning so we never even went into POR, just straight to the parks. In the evening we were the first stop off. I think we only waited for another bus twice during a 9 day stay. I really can't complain about that. I can't say anything bad about the pool. My dd loved the slide, swam every chance she got and loved popping into the hot tub at night after a swim. We all really enjoyed the boat ride to DTD and had one captain that was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about Disney facts, and chatted the entire way. While we were there we had absolutely no problem with mousekeeping or rude CMs. The ladies in the gift shop were very accomodating, even supplying us with tissue paper to wrap souveniers we had purchased at WalMart! We will only stay at POFQ in the future.

You sure do seem to have something against the hotel :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Depending on what part of the day, POFQ's busses go DIRECTLY to whatever park you are going to. It all just depends, yes the bus service can be odd BUT EVERY hotel has some sort of issue when it comes to transportation (indirect route, connecting, stoping at multiple resorts) ..... Did you know that the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk all share buses to certain parks? Does that make their service BAD? Ehhh..... Not at all.

By no means is POFQ perfect as I even showed in my original post, but in the end every resort has a few issues.
