Anybody NOT calling ahead for DAS

It is reportedly much faster than in the beginning.
Most of the recent reports I’ve seen have been 1.5 to 2 hours, with some faster.
This is great news I am hoping to use it for my trip in April but not sure if I could do a long wait thst others where doing

I did it in person at Disneyland two days ago. Something must’ve been wrong with the virtual chat, at least for me anyways, because the several times I tried, no one ever came on and I waited hours. I went to a guest services kiosk by the Matterhorn and no one was waiting and I got set up right away. It was much easier than fussing with the online thing.

We have a trip in two weeks to WDW and I don't think we will do the video chat to renew. We did the video registration for our November trip and it took a few hours to complete and we only used maybe half of the advance DAS selections as the DAS in the app worked great and we were able to do some of the rides much earlier in the day than the advance DAS times.

Also, when we did the video chat, it was a Saturday morning, I logged in right at 7, my wife slept in a bit and was not "picture ready" when the video happened, so she really did not like the picture they took.

It will just be easier to renew in person when we get there.

After reading all the time spent on the phone we will just go the old fashion way with Guest Services. The longest we have waited might have been 10 min (been 3x's). The advanced selections are a nice addition but not enough to wait on the phone the entire day 🤷‍♀️

I don't think I CAN do the advance DAS, so I will do it day by day. (under the cast guest passes, you need to get a new DAS every day. I am a retiree. Hard to complain with a free admittance perk LOL). However if I was eligible, I might want to do it.

I may double up on MK day and buy Genie+ along with DAS.

DH just got done, got on the chat at 8 AM PST and had all selections done by 9 AM. So an hour total wasn't bad, most of the time was doing the advanced selections, trying to decide on times and such. Not their end, his on that.

Since you still have to have a theme park reservation for each day, which means your admission has to be linked to your account, you still should be able to so the advance DAS. I don't know how else they would make that work with the reservations.

I think we'll very likely wait until we're at WDW and go to guest relations the night before our first park day, as we've done for the last several years. While the chat option is enticing, I just do not want to stress about the connection/wait and coordinating with my dad.
Question … this will be my first time using DAS and I am not very computer literate so I wanted to apply in person, You mentioned you go to guest relations the night before your first park …. I thought you needed a tix to get into the park to approach guest relations …. Is it now outside the park??? And is there a specific park I should go to? Thank you in advance for the guidance

there is a guest relation out side every park whether or not they will issue a DAS is dependent on a number of things such as staffing the right iPad

There have always been Guest Relations locations outside of each park. Guests do need to go thru Security to get to them, but you don’t need to actually enter the park.

They are often very busy with guests who need to resolve ticket problems before the can enter the park, so you may have a long wait. You will also be talking to a CM thru a small opening in a window - some people don’t feel it given much privacy.

You can go to any. Park, but the easiest is probably EPCOT World Gateway on the Boardwalk just before getting to Epcot. Because of all the hotels right there, it’s usually pretty well staffed/prepared. If you are at a Boardwalk area resort, you can walk or boat there. If at a Skyway resort, you can take the Skyway there.
If you are staying on-site, you can take a bus from any of the resorts to any park.
Guests could also walk from Grand Floridian or Contemporary to MK.

At Disneyland you have to be inside the park to get a DAS.

At WDW it can be done just outside each park at Guest Relations.

At WDW you can not all ways get a DAS outside the park as it dose depends on a number of things

Sometimes they won't issue DAS at an "outside the park" location if they don't have the iPad/correct iPad at that location or if they are too busy dealing with ticket issues.

Oh, okay. We've always been able to get one there but we also tend to do it in the evening the night before our first park visit.

Thank you I will try outside EPCOT the evening before. I do understand that privacy may be an issue but I think the stress of being on hold for several hours may be just as unpleasant.

DH was on hold for a very short amount of time, total time spent was well under an hour from start to finish, including hold time and thst wa sorry because he kept checking ADRs against available times.

Wow!! Maybe i will try it then .. having one of my kids help of course lol I just have been hearing horror stories about the wait .. 5,6,7 hours. May I ask if he called first thing in the morning? Or any tips lol

The long waits were mostly in the first few weeks. It’s been much shorter lately.

I connected at 3:30pm and was totally done including doing DAS Advance Selections by 4:07pm. I would have been done about 10 minutes earlier except that some of the Selections we were given were quite early and I asked if she could check for later times.
