Here's a thread with information on what wdrl and I have found on the OCC web site wdrl and I both post updates periodically.

No one has a definite idea right now. Based on the pace of sales that wdrl and I have found on the Orange County Comptroller's web site, it's likely to be 1-2 years before it sells out. However, if Disney decides to keep more rooms for cash guests, the time range could change. Only Disney knows what they will do. Those of us on the outside can only look at numbers and guess.

I believe DVC posts a notice on the member web site when a resort is nearly sold out. For reference, I believe there is one stating the VGC is expected to sell out this summer.

Ooooh thank you!
That means I still have time to look at resales and such. Thanks so much for the link... :)

You always have time to look at resales, you can always buy a resale for a "sold out" resort, you also will probably still be able to get the points you want directly through DVC for a "sold out" resort from points they purchase back through ROFR and foreclosures.

The guides of course won't mention sold out resorts up front, they'll market what is currently the "active" resorts, but all resorts are usually still available.

A DVC guide told us the other day that it would be selling out in 1-2 months but I don'
t believbe they have even declared all of the resort. As I said to my DH on the way back to our room- the only way that would happen is if they decided to keep a lot more than expected for cash sales. I am not sure how that would affect dues as they are giving a subsidy now in lue of actually paying dues on all the points they own but that would not work once the resort is sold out- they would have to start paying the share of dues for the areas they decided to keep in cash sales.

According to my figures through June 14, 2010, only 73.66% of BLT has been declared for the DVC membership, and about 57.73% of BLT's total points have been sold.

In 2009, DVD, the development component of Disney, subsidized slightly over $0.05 per point of BLT's MFs. However, as of 2010, DVD is not subsidizing BLT's maintenance fees.

My reading of BLT's Declaration of Condominium has me believe that DVD is obligated to pay the MFs on all points that have not been sold to the public. There are over 2.4 million points left to be sold at BLT, and DVD is responsible for the MFs on each of those points.

1-2 months?
Wow, they really think they could sell so many points in 2 months?
Oh well, if it's not meant to be then we'll just look at resales more closely. It's just that there are no dec UY avail on the list yet. I'll keep looking :)

No they won't sell that many points in 1 year. It's a salespersons way of getting you to buy now.

:earsboy: Bill

Yeah, it won't be selling out in the next two months. Take your time, do your homework, and make your decision.

Look at the resale market too. With this bad economy, people will continue to sell off their points as well

Currently, Aug-Dec UYs have the fewest contracts. Once October is hear, most new members will buy a Dec UY contract to receive 2009 points without paying MFs for them.

I'm not sure how long it will take before these Dec UY contracts hit the resale market.

That seems to agree with the cats member I talked to on our BLT tour, who said that it's about 60% sold.

DH and I took the BLT tour at the TOTWL this past Sunday. When we met with a guide after the conclusion of the tour, I asked when they expected to sell BLT out and he said in another month, maybe 2 at most and he strongly encouraged us to buy that very day.

Of course the sales guy told you that.

See the previous posters link above, there are millions of points yet unsold.

If a guide told me that, I'd love to just remind them of the current stats...then demand a new guide.

This wasn't our guide - just whomever was working the BLT tour that day. We didn't bite since we just bought into DVC in April and have to accumulate the cash before our next purchase anyway.

Besides, there's always the resale market. :)

We talked to our guide in April and he said he thinks it will be sold out in 2 years.
