They look to be dogs of all sizes and aren't wearing any assist dog type vests. No big deal, just curious. Want to make sure our dogs are not missing out : )
Have always seen the assist dogs (mostly med. to large size) usually wearing vests and such. Also, we do see the mouse control cats (sorry Mickey!) all the time. But for whatever reason, there has been quite an increase lately of small dogs in the park.
Since I don't think they should be in the park (except for assistance dogs and those in training to be assistance dogs) it's likely people feeling their precious pooches should go with them everywhere and sneaking them in. I've seen this more in stores and malls as well. I really hope if CMs see them, they are asking them to leave.
A lot of small dogs are also trained assistance dogs that deal with a variety of issues, but I do think that some people are starting to realize that you can just CLAIM your dog is an assistance dog and there is no real way for it to be challenged and then they just take them everywhere.
They have to be identified as assistance dogs.
We know the lady with the stroller well, she is a regular, adn the dog is NOT well behaved.Mal, cute photos!!!! I commend you for your work with service animals!!
Service dogs at DLR are fine, pets are not. PLEASE leave your pets at home or kennel or board them. We love dogs but not everyone does, and NO ONE likes to find a "gift" your pup may have left behind!IMO service dogs should be required to have proof of service, now anyone can say "this is my service dog" and they are allowed to take the dog anywhere. I do not approve of that practice. One trip we saw a lady pushing an odd green stroller, I was curious because it was lime green, I wondered if she was a Diser, I looked a bit closer and she was pushing her DOG in the stroller........ummmmmm wha????
