Anybody have their gallbladder removed but DID NOT have stones?

Little late to the party .. MAKE THEM DO AN ULTRA SOUND! HIDA SCAN KEPT ME IN PAIN 12 YRS! TRY TO DETOX FIRST! VIA DIET AND READ AUTO IMMUNE BOOKS. PILLS TO DETOX, TOO - NATUROPATHIC .. only hida-scan done .. said gallbladder fine .. couldnt eat or drink for 5 yrs .. horrific pain, nausea, vomiting, burning .. weight loss ... then bloating from bile .. then gallbladder did not visualize during hida scan .. never did an ultra-sound!!!!!! Took out gallbladder .. everything worse .. surgeon and doc didn't care .. awful gerd after that .. it either created a choledoctal cyst or it helped fill it up w bile! 4 yrs after gb removed, removed the cyst .. tons of bile everywhere! Pain and other symptoms worse all the time. 6 months later eyes went jaundice .. surgeon of cyst would not help, even though hospital told him it was scar tissue from his surgery. He told them to stick a needle in my liver (it was blocked 100 percent and in severe distress). He also told them NOT to do an ERCP -it could kill me. Hmmmm .. they could have done an MRCP - make them do one for all of you - it uncovers almost everything! And an ERCP and an EUS! The new surgeon put a stent in me w a drain tube, after drilling out the scar tissue (it was MULTIPLE STONES FROM 10 YRS BEFORE) .. and everything clogged .. he had to drill it out again and use a bigger stent .. the pain was horrendous .. the dila7did didn't even come close! Months later, I was in the ER having an MRCP done .. multiple stones and sludge (sludge has a list of symptoms that we all have) - think about DETOX YOUR GALLBLADDER FIRST! CHECK INTO AUTO-IMMUNE DISEASES LIKE HAVING YOUR GB REMOVED, MS, ETC. Sludge is painful bile that sits in one place for too long when someone puts a hole in the bottom of your liver. And that surgeon said the first surgeon messed up where the piece of my small intestine replaced the biliary duct that contained the choledoctal cyst. I've got congenital analomies, too .. ive read a cyst can be created if your gb is removed.

I was having right side pain. Had an ultrasound first, no stones. Had a HIDA Scan, 19% function. Had it out, surgeon said I had a porcelain gallbladder, meaning it calcified. Removed over 3 years ago, no problems.

This thread is from 2010. Sometimes these old threads pop up on the bottom,

Some zombie threads are still fun to read.

Yes, they are, and sometimes often have helpful information that is still pertinent. I just wish people would update their thread so I can get some closure!! (that's a joke, hard to determine tone in an online positing!)

I actually started reading this because I had my gall bladder out in 1995. I was having miserable pain and classic symptoms, but on ultrasound they only saw one stone that was about 1cm in diameter. When they took out the gall bladder they found I had another stone- one so big that it didn't show up on US, it pretty much filled the entire organ and just looked like "space" on the ultrasound. It was bigger than a walnut, and the surgeon said if he'd known it was there, they would have done open surgery rather than do it laparoscopically.

After the removal of my gallbladder surgery, I had something called a bile leak. There’s a technical term but I can’t think of it. They then sedated me and put one of those scopes down my throats and place a stent down there to plug things up.
