My dd9 slipped on our hardwood steps Sunday night and hurt her shin. We're going to the Dr. today b/c she is still complaining about it hurting after walking around or jumping. She can walk and put weight on it, but it really hurts her if I touch it. There is a small lump and bruise on her shin. I guess they will x ray it?

Well, i wasn't a kid--but I was an adult when I had a softball nail me in the shin like you would not believe.

It dented my shin at the impact location. The indent then was numb.

I did go to the doctor and they did x-ray it. They confirmed the numbness, but there was no fracture.

Many years later, the indent is mostly healed. I can feel the area and there is on a very subtle indentation remaining.

FWIW--I do not drink my milk and I do not consume much calcium at all (I know, I know!)--so my guess is that the shin bone is amazingly resilient.

You are wise to have it checked.

Same happened to me! Had a line drive hit me in the shin while I was pitching. One when I was 12 and then again when I was about 24. Both times I had a huge shiner on my leg with a big bruise. Cleared up after a few weeks.

I fell a few weeks ago. I was diagnosed with a contusion on my tibia after having an xray. Same symptoms. It's been 6weeks and it still hurts but not as much. It's not as swollen. Keeping the leg raised and constant Tylenol helps a lot.
