Anybody had a Grand Gathering?

I'm trying to find out about the whole Grand Gathering thing. I looked on the disneyworld.com site, but I still don't know enough about it. Is it worth using their trip planning service, or should I just make my own reservations? We have all been to WDW together before, so we have a little experience. Plus, we are staying at AKL concierge a night or two, so we'll go on the special safari they offer. Does anyone know if WDW is really strict on how many people are in the group? We will all definitely do stuff together, but there are only 7 of us.

You need to have at least 8 paying guests in your party (kids under 3 don't count).

There were 3 families in my group and we were all staying at different resorts and booked them ourselves. It was quite a bit of work trying to have them link our reservations together to be a Gathering. It probably would have been much easier if we had done it through them in the beginning, some of us were DVC too, so that complicated things.

We did the Magic Fireworks Voyage and had a great time. I definitely recommend it.
