On our next trip to WDW, my DD will be in college in Scranton and we were thinking about her flying down for the weekend. What airline flies from Scranton to Orlando? Are there any direct flights?

Try www.boscovs.com, click on the Travelcenter link, Disney Vacations and Types of Disney Vacations. Week-long charter flights from Wilkes Barre/Scranton start at less than $500. I've heard that the packages that Boscov's offers are a good deal. A toll-free number is on the first page of the Travelcenter link, should you have further questions. :)

The airport is Wilkes-Barre Scranton International. Last time I checked there were no nonstop flights from there to Orlando. Probably transfer at Philly or Pittsburgh. Boscov's does the direct charter flights, but the cities they fly from vary-Harrisburg, Reading, and Avoca(the Scranton airport is in Avoca). Usair is probably the main carrier for Orlando. We flew out from there 2 years ago, down the connection was through Philly, and back through Pit on Usair. Both times they were quick, no more then an hour or so down time at the airports. The prices have gone down some, due to competetion from Allentown. Allentown does have a nonstop flight, btw. Avoca is a very small airport! My husband insisted on getting there over an hour early. We did advoid a line at checkin, but there was nothing to do once we were there. The website is www.flyavp.com

Out of curiosity, which school in Scranton, the U or Marywood?

You may want to consider Allentown, ( ABE ) it has non stop flights via USairways and it's about 1 hr away from Scranton or less. Flights are usually cheaper flying to ABE too.

I also am from the Scranton area. We always use the Boscovs charters and they are super!! Linda is a wonderful TA!

The price is decent and we always fly first class for only about $25 extra...that is a nice perk!

We did fly once out of Avoca and tranfered in Philly down to MCO and Pitt from MCO...both times we had no problems as well. There were a lot of people on our Avoca flight that were on our connecting flight going to WDW too.

Boscovs uses USAir and we used it too when we went on our connecting flight trip.

Yes, the airport is tiny, but I like it better that way. I actually think there are only two gates!

I too am curious about which school your daughter attends, as I have attended the U ofS and graduated from Marywood U.

Yes, Allentown is another option, if you don't mind the drive to the airport...about an hour and 45 mins. Avoca takes about 15 from Scranton.

Good luck with you decision! :)

Thanks for all the info everybody! She goes to U of S, and looks like this isn't such a great idea...too much $$ and too much time for her to get to Orlando...but I appreciate all your help!

I've flown on USAir to Orlando through Boscov's. It is a direct flight and I'm sure you can book airfare only. UofS is a 15 ride to airport. My mom works in cafeteria at UofS so I'lltell her to make sure your daughter is fed well.
