Hi- We are planning an early December trip. The last few trips, the airfare from Indianapolis has been really low, but for this trip, we need to fly from Dayton, or Columbus.

I keep seeing fares in the $225-$250 range, which just seems sooooo high. Well compared to my $137 in Apr. from Ind it is.

What have people been paying lately, and how far out did you book? Am I going to be able to get below $200 R/T, or am I just dreaming?

Thanks guys- Hoping for some encouragement, that we can get back this year for MVMCP!!

You are too early. There are a number of us that will be trying out Indepenence Air (layovers at Dulles) and I've heard many good things so far. It's a make or break summer for them, so they might be an option come fall when their stability is known and the begin booking that timeframe.

Try airtran they have a direct flight from Day to Mco.It leaves at 8am from dayton.Your return from Orlando is in the evening we fly them and just got 200 rt.For our August trip.

Thanks for the replies.

I realize that I'm a bit early. I'm just trying to get an idea on how much our trip will be. My mom is going to, which is the reason we won't be making the 2 hour trek to IND.

The airtran times are great. Our last trip, I missed them when they were cheap. I think like $69 each way. I didn't book when I saw them that cheap, and then they were back up that afternoon.

We booked SW out of Columbus, but I've also been monitoring Dayton (ATA). Delta has been running about $250. We got SW for $190. In the past I've been able to get ATA out of Dayton for $150, but I'm not seeing that now.

You can sing up for the airline's emails on their sites, and they will often send you specials. Also, you can download Ding! from SW and that has good deals, but you need to be able to book within a few hours.

My parent's fly to FL all the time, and say anything at or under $200 out of Columbus is good and I tend to agree with that.

We have used Airtran out of Dayton the past 2 trips. The last being Dec. 2004. We got the $69 each way airfare. Since then I have only found a best of $89 from Dayton via Airtran email farewatch. But now Indy has it at $69. In my mind a $40 savings each person is worth a consideration even at a 2 hour drive.

Just my 2 cents.

Can you fly out of Cincinnati? Delta is always cheaper out of Cinci. It is a major hub for them. Columbus is always at least $100 higher on Delta. SW is probably the lowest you will get out of Columbus.

If it was just DH, me and our girls, we would definately drive to Indy. That is what we have done the past few trips. Saved around $240.00, doing that in April. However, my Mom is coming along, and she will be working until 12 AM the night before we leave, and then driving to our house, which is 40 minutes. Adding the extra drive, will just be too much on her.

I am happy w/ $200. R/T. Hope I can get it. And yes, I could prob. get to Cincy. I keep checking them too.

Thanks for the replies!!
