Hi all!

Dh has started looking into a trip for us for 2008 (maybe) we collect Tesco clubcard points with a view to converting the vouchers to deals (which are worth 4 times the value of the voucher) vouchers which you can now use to pay for your Virgin Holidays Florida trip. :cheer2:

Just wondering if anyone has ever used the deals vouchers for a holiday? I have used them on magazine subscriptions before but nothing big like a hol.

Any views would be most welcome.

I used the Tesco/Goldsmith vouchers in the past but will be saving the clubcard vouchers to use off Virgin holidays. Normally I would just book a fly drive then arrange hotels etc myself but I reckon I could get approx £1000 of a holiday next year! It can't be used with any other discounts but the max discount I have ever got is £600!!

I will be doing all my shopping at Tesco from now on! :teeth:

I do my weekly shop at Tesco and use their credit card to pay for it, you earn double points then. :thumbsup2

DH works for Tesco so we use his Priviledge card and our tesco credit card too, we managed to get £120 worth of vouchers which is £480 worth of deals vouchers from the Priviledge card and we are waiting for the vouchers from the credit card to come so we are hoping to get a good discount off our next trip. :cheer2:

Hi Gems,

As it has literally only just been announced that Virgin now accept Tesco deals it may be too early for someone on here to have yet had a chance to use them :)

I agree the deals are excellent value and I bought a lovely leather sofa set with mine last year :thumbsup2

Ive managed to build up nealry £1400 in clubcard deals over the last 18 months, I am very interested in this but the T&Cs on the tesco website dont seem to be working for the virgin section :-(

Im sure I read on here though that you cant use it for flight upgrades or car hire which is a shame, but it seems an excellent deal overall!

Yes I use them every year.

This year we had a trip to DLRP in January paid for with Clubcard vouchers and we are going to Center Parcs in Normandy for a week in August which Clubcard vouchers also paid for.

I am now saving up for Orlando 2008 although I doubt I will book with Virgin. Cosmos and Tradewinds are also in the Deals scheme at present although companies in the scheme do change.

Last year we paid for 2/3 of our Orlando trip with Clubcard vouchers through Premier but they have since left the scheme. If you search this forum and the Disneyland Paris forum for "Tesco Clubcard" you will see that there has been some chat about this. Personally I really like using it:goodvibes

This is gonna sound really cheeky but how much do you spend in Tesco each week to be able to get that amount of vouchers in just 18 mths. We're lucky if we get about £100 worth in a year (which equates to £400 in Deals tokens) and we spend around £600 a month in Tesco.

If you check out the moneysaving expert site, you will find lots of tips for saving points.

For example you can get a tesco credit card, where for every £4 spent in tesco's you get 5 points, and I think 1 point for every £2.00 spent elsewhere. Up until April of this year, you got 2 points for every £2, regardless of where you spent it, or something like that.

Also if you do your tesco shopping on line, you can find deals of free points. For example for next weeks shop, I got 1000 free points for a spend of over 75.00. This equates to around 40.00 in holiday vouchers i think, or 10.00 to spend in tesco's. There is a site where you can find codes. (This is on the money saving expert site, under shopping. Also, tesco send you free points each quarter. For example buy something from household and get 50 free points, and so on. Also they sell petrol and lots of other things. So it can be done.

I did a quick calc the other night, and if I got myself one of their credit cards and spent around 70 per week on food and 15 on petrol, by the end of the quarter i would have holiday vouchers worth 400 per quarter, with all the bonus points, that includes other spends on the credit card as well. So in a year that would be around 1600.

The only thing you have to watch though, is that the vouchers come in the club card holders name, so you can't borrow any from someone else. You also have to hold the vouchers before you book your holiday, as the holiday companies, won't accept part payment in the vouchers when it comes to settle the balance. If I am wrong on this part, I am sure someone will correct me, but that was the way I understood the rules when I read them. So basically, it pays to save and save before you book.

I'm going to carry on with my virgin flying club credit card for now, as I'm not too far off, and then I intend to switch to a tesco credit card to get the extra points.

Happy saving.

I do all my shopping online and search round for extra codes you normally can find 1000 extra points for a £50 spend easily. Also each family member has an account so We can reuse the codes (makes sure you have the same surname though as the deals vouchers have your surname on).

I rarely set foot in tesco- hate the crush!
