Anybody ever use a pillow case for character autographs?

I made my DD & friend pillow cases for our trip in May. I used fabric markers but didn't use a hoop. You can just pull it tight and have the characters sign. I had both cases & markers in a gallon size zip lock. I don't have a picture of the case signed but have one of a T we did last year.

Here's our pillowcase (sorry for the wrinkles -- just pulled it out). We've been collecting signatures for 5 years and are onto the harder signatures now. We do use an embroidery hoop to pull it tight and corresponding-colored Sharpies.

I will note that I washed it once and the red and pink signatures ran. Now it just sits in a drawer until our next trip.

You should use fabric markers. My kids pillowcases have been the through the wash tons of times without any fading or running.

The shirts/pillow cases look great! I will be picking up some fabric markers for sure. I think the kids will love this as a souvenir!

I have done pillowcases for 3 years now. I would NOT recommend using a hoop or anything else with it - a castmember showed me a trick the first time! All you do it figure out where you want the signature. Have another adult in your party or a cast member hold it really tight on one side while you pull the other side. It immediately creates a perfect surface for the character to write on. This is especially handy if there is more than one character around and you need to switch spots on the case fast.

I also use fabric markers. Ahead of time, I figure out which characters we definitely will be meeting (those we dine with) and I use iron-on transfers to put their pictures on the case. Then we get them to sign next to their picture. In the middle I find Disney clip-art showing the year.

I've never done a pillow case, but I've done three canvas bags (Disney, universal, and Star Wars Weekends) a vinylmation, and a graduation cap. For the canvas bag, I always had a piece of cardboard in the bag so there was a hard surface for the characters to write on. With very few exceptions, the characters didn't have a problem. Some characters with sight limitations had some difficulty, but if you are willing to work with the character you can make it work. I have over 60 characters on my Disney bag, and all but 2 of the signatures are perfect.

My wife saw this and said she would love to do this! My daughter's response to her was NO WAY.....then insert DD rolling her eyes and laughing! Pretty sure DW is serious. :)

I've done pillow cases twice and I love fabric marker idea because sharpies do not last after years of washing :(.
although I like embroidery ring idea we always used cardboard and elastic bands and I just took it in and out of backpack. I think this year I will use big clips instead. My husband always gives me a hard time at first re: these "ideas", but once he sees how cute they come out and how much the kids loved them he gets into it.

My older dtr was only 2 or 3 the year we bought a princess baseball cap and had characters sign that (she still has that in her room).

We also did a canvas tote that I ironed on a Tinker bell patch and she used it for school for two years.

I think this year we are doing a pillow case and a tote (little one is starting school) .....you have given me some ideas re: iron on year and markers .......

thx

Hi Bernadette!!! I love how yours turned out!! Our trips are getting so close! Are you packed yet?

We have never done a pillowcase before, but my youngest dd saw a few on Pinterest, and roped me into making one for her.... Of course - I can never do anything the easy way - so I had to make a Marker Pouch to go with it. We will be using an embroidery hoop to keep the pillowcase stretched out while the characters sign it.
