Anybody ever try pedometer or activity tracker at Disney?

Has anyone tried the pedometer that came with Apple Health on the Iphone 6 and 6 plus yet?

I got a Fitbit activity tracker a few months ago, and I can't wait to use it at Disney to see how far I walk, how many steps, etc, I do on a Disney day (June can't come soon enough!). Anybody ever do that?

We have tried several different 'trackers' over the last 10 years and all of them fell in the 8-12 miles (per day) bracket for dh & I. We are 'movers'!! :)
(Also seniors ;)) Love the action :thumbsup2 - one disser that we met calls us the 'go bunnies'! LOL

Sadly, we are cancelling our Nov. 10 day trip because we are 'sick' of the many changes Disney has made in the last few years - the mandatory planning, etc. etc. etc. Have been going to WDW (MK) since the early '70's, (some years 2-3 times) but we want to go somewhere and not have to stress before we get there and during our trip also. May or may not return. :(

This is with the Fitbit Flex on my non-dominant hand from our January trip:

Day 1: 25,615 (Magic Kingdom)
Day 2: 24,366 (Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, EPCOT)
Day 3: 28,826 (Magic Kingdom)
Day 4: 24,908 (EPCOT, Downtown Disney)
Day 5: 21,816 (Hollywood Studios)
Day 6: 25,435 (EPCOT, Magic Kingdom)
Day 7: 21,868 (Hollywood Studios)
Day 8: 16,858 (half day at Magic Kingdom)

Hope that helps!

A couple in our party last July used one, and it said we logged 58 miles in 6 days.

8 days = 88 miles in 2012. And we needed new tennis shoes at the end of the trip. Got a good workout from pushing the stroller (and occasionally carrying the sleepy 4 year old, though). :rotfl:

In 2000, even though I had spent about 1 hour 2-3 times per week walking on treadmills prior to the trip for a couple of months I still ended up with a stretch injury in my Achilles tendon which my doctor said was due to repetitive stress from a lot of walking in a short period of time. I'm in significantly better shape now than I was then so walking 10-15 miles a day for several days isn't a bit problem now, but if you're not used to it, be warned that you can have some nasty impacts. It took about 18 months for it to be fully healed. That was one of the reasons I decided to get in better physical shape so that I would never have the problem again. You can experience more than just sore feet and blisters if you're not aware of how much you're pushing it.

I just got back from DL a couple of weeks ago, and I had the same exact injury to my Achilles. I've never experienced pain like that in my life, and since it happened on day 3 of an 8 day trip, it really put a damper on the rest of our time there.

I'm still in a fair amount of pain and have to limit my activity for now, but when I'm fully healed, like you said, I plan on getting myself into the kind of shape that won't allow for this type of injury to happen again!

Wore my fitbit when we went in September. Did 13 - 15 miles per day. And, we felt like this was a "relaxing" trip. I wish I had a fitbit on the trips I felt were not relaxing.

On another note, I was talking to a CM (they noticed me checking the fitbit) and they said the average guest does 7-8 miles a day. I find it very hard to believe that is the average and that low.

I think that sounds low, too. I've read on other sites that the average at WDW is more like 8-14 miles per day and DL is more like 5-7. :confused3

My mom and I tracked while we were there in July, and we came to close to 30K every day. I think our low was 21K, it was a great way to know how many calories we burned and how many miles we walked, I totally recommend it

I'm shocked too - and that most people are only logging 20 000 steps/day while there. On an average day at home I easily log 10 000 steps and 5 miles with only a 30 minute walk/day.

I did about 8 miles a day during our last trip in August, but most of our days were cut short by the horrific heat and storms.

I have one through a program at my job where you get points for steps and activity, and then can get up to $100 per quarter for getting a certain number of points. I average about 12,000 steps per day - I can't wait to see how much I get on my trip in December! Every step is money! :cool1:

Last time we were at Epcot my friend had something to track miles. He said we did close to 13 miles in one day at Epcot. Crazy.
