Be prepared if you are a highly sensitive and emotional person. I never learned about the Holocaust other than there were concentration camps and people died. My education was a few visuals and that was about it. I did not know the small details until visiting the museum. The first thing I saw upon entering was a huge wall sized poster of the inside of a concentration camp. It was so disturbing that I began to cry and went to the nearby bathroom.
I slowly made my way around the museum. it is huge and soooooo much information it is impossible to read everything in one trip. That was when I realized exactly what the Holocaust was all about. I made my way to the theater seating where they showed film clips of people telling their true stories of survival. 10 minutes into it, i began sobbing. It was too much. I left the museum without finishing it. I cried for 30 minutes after leaving the building. I would like to return, but I know I just could not do it.
