Anybody else with younger DD's having trouble with the Mary Kate Olsen issue?

Hey Gail Hayden! Thanks...and I was only really quoting YOU because of the "Trixie Belden" thing. I just thought it was so funny because alot of people don't know who that even is, although I think those books are coming back around again. Hope they're not the "new and improved" versions like poor Nancy Drew though, because I like them the way they were originally written!

Ok, got ya. I loved TB much more than Nancy Drew.

Wow, I loved Nancy Drew. I can not wait till my DD4 is old enough to read them.;)

My kids are older and are past the stage where I can stop them from reading something up to a point...I can control what comes into my house, but that's it. Even though youngest is 11, she doesn't even want to read that stuff...but she does read my People magazine. I'm sure most parents don't buy their kids the tabloids to read..but you can't help but see them. When the kids were younger I don't recall them ever questioning me about something they saw on a magazine cover. I don't think they ever looked up to anyone as a role model...they liked the Spice Girls, but never wanted to dress like one of them, they liked Britany Spears, but now think she is too trashy. Catie likes Mia Hamm and wishes she could play as good as her, but that is as far as that goes. Luckily we have always had talks about things like drinking, drugs and eating disorders...plus other things. Open communication is important not only with girls, but with boys as well.

And I never heard of the Trixie Belden books...or if I did I can't remember them...I'm 46, when did they come out?
