To plan Hollywood Studios without knowing when Toy Story Land will open?

We'll be there May 29-June 5, so we'll be arriving the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Toy Story Land could be opened. If it's not open yet, I've read there is a possibility that TSM will be closed in preparation for the opening. If it's not open and TSM is closed, there isn't a lot we'll do so 1 day will be enough, but if it's open then we'll probably want 2 days. Part of me wants it to be open so we can experience it while we're there, while another part of me hopes it's not. We do like TSM and will be disappointed if we don't get to ride it, but on the plus side, it will make FP choices easier.

I wish they'd announce with Toy Story Land will officially open, it would make my planning so much easier.

I’d bet my $ it will open Memorial Day weekend. We are going in June and I’m assuming it will be open.

I wouldn’t say struggling but I would really like to know for sure if it’s going to be closed or not before my FP window opens so we can decide if we’re sticking with the plan of going to DHS or switching parks. It’s starting to get a little frustrating that they aren’t announcing it.

I will be there shortly before you and my only concern is whether TSMM will be open, since it will be just before the expected opening of Toy Story Land. This will likely be a factor in how I schedule FP+ for DHS (or if I schedule any at all there) and how much time I plan to be in that park. However, I seemed to be faced with issues like this each time I visit WDW and will somehow manage!

Yes, I wish they would announce the opening date as well because we will be there 5/27 - 6/03 and I've saved the very last day of our trip for HS just in case Toy Story Land is open. I'm just hoping by fast pass selection time we will know more that way we can truly plan out all of our park days. I personally don't wont to give a whole park day to HS if the land will not be open during our trip.

In all my years of planning and trips I've not yet had one that went exactly as planned. There are always adjustments for some reason or another, this is really no different.

We are there in mid-May and yes I'd like to know for planning purposes. If TSMM is available to book when my FP+ window opens, I'll book it and go with that. Right now I have DHS as 1/2 day on one morning and then going over for a few hours on one evening. IF (and I'm not that hopeful for my dates) something changes I have room to adjust and make one or both of those full days.

Going 5/21-5/25. We aren't big HS fans in the first place and it's just me and my preschoolers so we will be only going for TSMM. I have an afternoon "planned" but that's the extent so far.

Based upon an anticipated opening in May or June, when should we start looking for FP booking ability for those rides?

We will be visiting in August. Obviously, I expect Toy Story Land to be open, but what I'm wondering about is FP booking. I'm also wondering if the opening of Toy Story Land brings enough back to the table to make DHS worth it for my family, or if we are going to wait a bit longer until Star Wars opens before returning to DHS.

My son is 14 now, and my daughter is 23. The daughter won't step foot on a roller coaster, no way no how. My son will, but I'm not sure that the Slinky Dog coaster is going to do it for him, so there is at least some possibility that Toy Story Land will be a bust for us. Outside of that, no one rides ToT. Two of us will do RnRC, but it isn't a must do. Three of us enjoy Star Tours, the daughter won't ride it at all, so that leaves us with TSMM, and a couple of shows.

It is possible that we will do two days in AK, and split the remainder of our trip between MK and Epcot.

We are planning on June 9th-16th. What I’m doing is planning for a day at HS but also making plans for Epcot that same day. That way, we have a plan either way and we’ll just cancel our ADR’s for whichever one we won’t need. By the time our FP window comes up in April, we should know what we are doing.

I believe for Pandora FPs were available at the 60 day mark for opening day. So once it comes time for FP selections you should know if TSL will be open or not.

Either 30 or 60 days out. There will be announcements.

Frozen and 7dmt released FP's right at 30 days out. Pandora was 60 days

@rteetz @hiroMYhero

Do you remember when they announced the opening of Pandora? Was it like mid-March? Not saying that TSL will go exactly like that, but it certainly could follow the same pattern.

The FP subforum was collapsed back into TPAS right before Pandora FPs booking date was announced. The Pandora FPs with new Tiering in AK became available for booking around March 24th or so. Anyone with an open booking window with at least a 3 or 4 day length of stay was able to pre-book a Pandora ride.

It was during the earnings call in February.
Thank you!

Nope!

We were supposed to go Memorial Day week but moved our trip earlier in the month due to a scheduling issue.

It likely won’t be open when we go now so it’s a non issue for us. But when we were going to be there the same week as you we said we weren’t doing DHS this time unless Toy Story was open AND unless we could get FP. We were planning to just wait it out and hold off on deciding what to do that day.

We do not stress about this kind of stuff. If something throws a wrench in things we just adjust our plans if needed.
