My parents have been going to the world since the early 80's. They dont like MGM (myself only spend about a half day) or Animal Kingdom (they went when it first opened and it was awfull) so to this day they never goto either parks.

AK is my wifes favorite park, and I am trying to convince them they are crazy to skip these two (at least AK, anyway)

does anyone else feel the same way as they do?

If necessary, we will skip AK. But my DH went for the first time in July for our honeymoon & he loved AK. So it will now be a must for us each trip. I've never skipped MGM since I really enjoy the scenery and the feel of being back in another era.

I find that a half day at a time at MGM and AK are enough, but each park has enough to attract me once or twice in the week we spend there, our visits coming 12 or more months apart. Actually, MK is fast becoming my least favorite park. Once I've done the 'Big' rides, I'm outta there. This year will be different as our 2 yr. old granddaughter will be making her debut, so we'll enjoy her in her discovery of WDW.

We have not stayed all day in either AK or MGM -- but we like both parks. But, this time (in 100 days!!!!) we plan to open MGM and shut it down -- we always have felt like we missed out by not staying.

AK is great -- love the Safari, Dinosaur, ITTBAB, all the wildlife and scenery, etc., but don't think we will ever stay the whole day -- DH wanted to skip it last time, but I over-ruled him, lol!

We are incurable park-hoppers and almost never spend a whole day at any park (with only two of us it's pretty easy to up and go to another park).

I didn't like AK when it first opened, either. But now I think it's great. What seemed to work best for us was to spend 2 mornings there (less crowded and cooler).

MGM is my favorite park, so I could never skip it. I love the atmosphere, and of course TOT. I would fly to Florida just to ride that, so I know I'm partial.

Everyone is different though, so whatever makes them happy is what they should do. Maybe if you take a trip with your parents, you can help them see what you like about the parks you choose.

MGM and Epcot are my favourite parks. When we stayed at the BCV recently we spent quite a bit of time in both these parks. I personally would only do MK for a short while on the next trip. The rides there are not very thrilling (for me personally) and as I don't have kids I don't feel the need to spend as much time there (although I can understand why families would.) I definaltely wouldn't miss MGM out on a trip as the best rides are there plus I love doing the animation tour. I find it really interesting to see the artists at work. Just my humble opinion though. As for AK it's nice to see the animals but there are better wild animal parks to visit (after going to San Diego zoo and animal park last year when I visited the USA I would find it hard to beat them). So I guess 6 hours would do me there.
Also after doing both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon on a recent visit I would also try to fit them into my next trip.

We love both parks and always spend a full day (at least) at each.

There is more than enough to do at each of them to fill a day. AK has so many wonderful paths to explore, great shows, some good food, interesting shops, etc. We usually try to do AK mid-week since it is more laid back and slower paced. Its a nice break after a few days in the more hectic parks.

As for MGM, plenty to do (even though a couple of shows have closed and not been replaced (sound effects, superstar tv, hunchback).

We enjoy being at the parks, seeing the sights, browsing the shops, eating at the restaurants. And that's all besides the actual attractions.

I wouldn't skip either.

Have they done 'Who wants to be a millionaire' at MGM? that might get them hooked LOL it's a fun game/show.

We love MGM and DAK (more than Epcot)

I could easily skip AK, but MGM is my fav. Have they seen the new fireworks show Fantasmic?? It's a must-see. Maybe a meal at the Brown Derby would also win them over. I like MGM better in the evening. It seems to have more atmosphere, but some of the shows stop playing later in the day so plan carefully.

We usually go early, do the things we like, and get out before the real crowds arrives.

I'm the opposite of swilphil-love AK, would easily skip MGM. At AK, the theming is so awesome in my opinion that I just like to walk around enjoying it.

We never miss either park. MGM is our fave WDW park. My heart would be broken missing any of them.

#1-MGM
#2-Animal Kingdom
#3-Magic Kingdom
#4-Epcot

MGM I would not miss, but AK is not a park I spend much time at. In the three times I have been there, I have spent less than a day total. I just find it difficult to manover there, and there just isn't a lot to interest me. MK is my favorite - has been for 30 years!

I love MGM, but I must admit that it's become a half-day park for me. I love all the attractions there and ToT, Beauty and the Beast, Stars and Motor Cars, and Fantasmic are my favorite ride, show, parade, and fireworks show respectivly, but it just seems like there arn't enough attractions there to stay a whole day. Recently, I just get there at noon an stay as late as I like (either for dinner or Fantasmic). MK is also now a half-day park for me as well. It works out well since I don't see everything in one trip, it makes me want to keep comming back for more. :teeth:

AK, however, if a full day for me (or at least full in the meaning from park opening to closing). I love the animal exhibits and shows there. I stay there all day seeing the animals and enjoying the atmosphere.

We only do AK if we have a 1/2 day to kill. It only takes a few hours and we really don't enjoy it as much as the others.

However, MGM is a must-see for us, but can be done in less than a full day.

I did skip MGM during my last trip to Disney. Actually I made this decision after I watched the Disney World promotional video tape.

Rarely do we spend entire day at one park. Studios and AK always get a fair share of our time. Lately EPCOT seems to get larger portion of our time but we visit all parks during each stay. Different times of year, attendance, lenght of our stay, new attractions/events and just how we feel when we get there are the variables that influence our agenda.

We love both those parks. Actually, if I had to skip any park it would definitely be Epcot.

Depends on how much time we have. When the children and I had only one day ( school day off ) We just hit Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. I agree that the Animal Kingdom (which I enjoy) is a half day park as well as MGM. I like them but they aren't on my must do list.

I like AK, but it's not my favorite. My 4 yo ds loves it though, so we usually spend the better part of a day there. (Just going at his pace, doing the dig, conservation station, etcl takes a good part of a day!) This year we'll be with a friend who has never been to AK. She's a huge animal lover, so I'm sure we'll do a full day there this year.

I'm wondering if MGM may be a partial day park for us this year though. DS is almost past Playhouse Disney, doesn't care about The Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast, is scared of TOT and is too small for RNRC. The only thing is the same friend will be with us, and she's never been to MGM either! I guess we'll just wait and see until we get there.k

I am soooooooo excited!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
