Anybody else NOT mind the smell of SKUNK?

I can think of stinkier stuff that a lot of people like the smell of - perfumes, pipe tobacco, and gasoline .....

Sometimes when I smell skunk, it reminds me of blackberries.

I was in my area last night and a skunk had obviously sprayed. And it occured to me that I really don't hate it. I mean, I wouldn't want to smell it all the time, but there is something about it....

Your "instinct" is good....skumk scent is used as a perfume base.

OMG, it is so ironic that I stumbled upon this thread tonight! We have had a skunk in our yard for a week or 2 and it has been driving dh nuts. It had been spraying around our house and was making dh nauseous. So he decided he was going to take care of the skunk one way or another. He has set live traps for it but has only managed to catch a opossum so far. Well, tonight he finally spotted the skunk and he shot it. (Wonder how many animal cruelty flames that statement will bring in?! No matter. I won't be responding to them anyway! )

Anyway, dh and I were talking about it earlier and he started telling me that his stepdad's adopted nephew (did you get all of that?) loves the smell of a skunk spraying. We live in an area with tons of wildlife so you could probably find a skunk pretty easily if you were trying. His stepcousin will actually go looking for skunks just to get them to spray because of how much he likes the smell!

Dh and I were talking about how gross that seemed to us but that everyone has different senses so what seems nasty to us might seem okay to someone else. I am surprised to see how many people actually don't mind that smell though! Of course what do I know? I hate the smell of most perfumes and am allergic to many detergents!

P.S. The opossum managed to get away before dh could take any drastic measures! And yes, I was glad it got away. I am not an evil wildlife hater in any way! I promise!
