Anybody Else Not Impressed With Song's "Low" Fares?

I've tried checking all kinds of dates for Hartford to Orlando and Hartford to Tampa on Song from the time service begins in September up through March 2004. The lowest fare I've found has been in the $124 to $135 range ONE WAY. What happened to the $79 One Way Fares the advertised???

As it looks now, Song will be more expensive to Florida than mainline Delta (at least in the Hartford market). So much for the low cost airline!

"Underwhelmed" does not begin to describe how I feel about Song's fares. The August round-trip Delta tickets I purchased for $147 R/T from LGA to MCO a few months ago are now $255 for my new flights on Song.

Even right before the Delta/Song switchover a couple of weeks ago, the highest R/T Delta fare for my flight was $181. So, using the high of $181 from the past several months, and comparing it to the current $255, I don't know how Song can make a claim to being a lowfare airline, because their fares certainly don't compare favorably to anything I had ever paid on Delta.

A week and a half ago I checked Songs fares out of BDL (waiting on Southwests newest promotion) and they were $84 each way... now $125! Talk about an increase in such a short amount of time! I am still hoping Southwest does their friends fly free again! Steph

I have talked to them several times about this. I am going in November and booked when it was still Delta Express from Boston. I paid $199RT great times, 7:20 AM down and 11:25AM back. The same flights now cost $425RT. 3/4 of the plane is still empty. They will never fill them at this rate. I am trying to get my parents tickets on these flights but not at that price.

They always tell me the same thing. "The flights are sold out at thte lowest fare". So, the plane has 199 seats - 15 are sold. Can that be all of the seats that are going for the lowest fare. I find it hard to believe that they won't lower the fares soon.

For my dates, Song was $235, but I waited, checked twice a day, and I knew it would go down. It did. I booked for $185, and DHs ticket which is for the next day, was down to $155. This is for prime time peak week, 7:30 AM out of JFK and 7:30 PM out of MCO during Fourth of July week. A few days later, the fares were back up again, even higher. I would bet that fares will go down and then back up again at least two more times before my July vacation.

>>> They will never fill them at this rate.

For at least two different years in the past, I surveyed Delta Express, at least for BOS-MCO nonstops, for some peak dates around Thanksgiving. Prices did start at their everyday low price, about $200. RT called U booking class but within a month of first offering (331 to 301 days in advance) fares got up to the everyday high price around $500. RT called Y booking class. They stayed up, perhaps going down to $450 on occasion, but the planes did eventually fill up!

As far as I know, each Song flight offered a few low priced seats they day it was offered on the Song web site. Otherwise the fare structure has mimicked Delta Express' of years gone by.

I saw at least one flight with only the Y (highest) fare available and its seat map showed no seats claimed other than the premium ones that are always blocked off, and it is more than 7 months in advance.

About a week ago, got written notice of schedule change from Song. Reflects the changed flight numbers for the same flights from Delta Express to Song. Real Song stationery and envelope with their logo in light green.

seashoreCM...are you saying that it is advisable to hop on those fares right around the 330 day out mark? We are looking at next April/May so we have a bit of time. I am checking several dates for Song fares from BOS to MCO at different dates for this next year to see how the prices are...the dates I am checking for March the roundtrip fare is over $500.00. We are basically planning on getting tickets asap at hopefully a $200.00 roundtrip fare and having great seats.

I got a link from Smarter Living (through Orbitz) today and booked a non stop flight from Boston to Orlando in July for $191 which I considered a good price. I was thrilled with the flight timing but it may not be for everyone... 7:20 am out of Boston and returning 7:00 pm from Orlando, essentially adding almost two days to the trip. I also was surprised that they could be changed for only $25.00 up until the day of flight (in the small print).

Edit: Well, already the next morning they have cancelled our flights and assigned us to new ones with less favorable times. I hope that's not an indication of what's to come.

I just booked my husbands flight for our June trip through Song out of JFK and I was thrilled with their rates. Much better then anything I've found elsewhere for our dates. We payed 145.00 round trip (non stop) total. Everything else was over 200.00 round trip. The flight times were just what he needed as well. So far I'm pleased with their rates, but I guess it varies quite a bit by when you book and from where you're traveling.

We booked our December flights as soon as Bos/Orl became available, about 3 weeks ago. The prices for the holiday week werent too bad and I was happy with it. I just saw today our flight is cancelled. So much for my plans for the first day.

The same happened to me. If you had seat assignments you need to call the airline to get reassigned or at least reconfirmed. I tried to pick my seat assignment on the new flight and the web site would not let me and had to fly 1-800-FLY-SONG and they took care of it. Maybe between now and December they will put that 7:20 flight back.

I booked the flight through Orbitz. I wonder if I could get the flight back if they re-instate it prior to our July date? Opinions? Method?
