As far as the fixins...I don't know about the sauted mushrooms or onions (I don't like those, so wouldn't have noticed them), BUT I am a cheese lover, and they definitely still have the hot cheese sauce!! I've gotten some for my fries every time I've eaten there!! :woohoo:
We were at Cosmic Ray's in early May and they had the sauteed mushrooms and onions. That was the main reason we ate there -- DH and I both like to put those on our veggie burgers.

MyGoofy26 -- Thank you for that link!!

It's like any fast food restaurant---you go up to your particular counter and order. I believe one side was hamburger type platters and the other was more dinner-type menu--like ribs. You get your food on a tray and carry to your table. We didn't find the portions overwhelming, as in you could feed 2, but I guess that just depends on how hungry you are. In fact, now that I'm thinking about it---I remember the reason now that I didn't enjoy my meal this time. I ordered the ribs and they tasted old.

Please post back if you do decide to go. Have fun :wave2:

Thinking about getting the chicken and ribs probably 3 of them for 5 of us and getting french fries as well. This way all 3 kids could have dessert, which I've heard is prepackaged. Question how big is the fries and how big is the chicken and ribs. If this works we'll only use 3 CS and buy the fries and 2 drinks. Does this sound like a plan?

DH and I don't care for Cosmic Ray's. We tried it twice, and found the food to be mediocre. Sonny is fun to watch though!

we like it fine enough, we prefer Pecos Bills but there is nothing wrong with Cosmic Rays. Depending on what we are ordering it can be a pain ... if DH wants something from the Chicken counter, DD wants something from the Burger counter and I want something from the Soup & Sandwiches counter ...... it becomes fraught,

so I would tend to just grab a burger with DD, this way DH can go get his, I can get mine and DD and whilst we do that DD picks up serviettes and cutlery and grabs a table ........

the toppings bar is great and really fresh when we have been there.

Wow i'm listening to the Planetary Boogie, I love it. I've never been to cosmic Ray's, but it sounds awesome!!!! It was on my list of Restaurants to consider, but it is now a must do!!! I can't wait, the music got me really excited!!!

My family really enjoyed Cosmic Ray's in early May.

Yes, we had to wait in several lines to satisfy all eaters but DH could get a "different type" of CS (chicken & ribs) and the kids can got their burgers and nuggets. To keep things simple, I just selected food from the station I happened to be waiting in. I figured that since it was the CS of the day and not the TS, my choices weren't that big of a deal (we were on the DDP). I knew that I could choose whatever I desired at dinner that evening.

We loved the topping bar and found that kid-pleasing hot cheese topping in dispensers right next to the 6th food group - ketchup!

Sonny was fun too - all three of my sons were rolling at his corny jokes!

A much better choice for my family than Pecos Bills which we found to have dry food and be bird infested!

We LOVE Cosmic Rays and it's a must do for us on each trip. We've tried Pinocchios Village Haus, Pecos Bills and Columbia Harbor House, but keep going back to Cosmic Rays. We like the variety of food it offers and our boys love Sonny. I agree it can get super crowded and do not like people waiting inches from us to get our table (same thing happens at Tusker House at AK which we also love) . We usually have a very light breakfast on our MK days and try and go to Cosmic Rays as soon as it's open for lunch when it's empty. Going at opening makes waiting in 2 different lines a lot quicker and easier too.

I always get the turkey baon wrap with pasta salad, DS gets ribs and chicken. They actually have the most variety of all the park cs..

This is definately our favorite counter service.... We always eat in the back where we can sit and see the castle. Its good for our big group because everyone can get something they like.

Maybe next time we will try to see if we can catch the show!

Cosmic Ray's is one of our annual Disney "traditions." It is just a given that during the MNNSHP we eat dinner there and watch the witch fly down from the castle. We sit out on the balcony, and for the last 3 years there was hardly anyone else out there on the nights we were there. That is our resting place, not to mention the food is pretty darn good!

Just sat down this morning to make ADR's, and the first thing everybody wanted to know was, "We will be eating at Cosmic Ray's on party night, right?" I thought that was funny considering all of the trouble we go to to get reservations at other places. :hmghost:
