Anybody else here LOVE Cosmic Ray's

We really liked it too. The kids enjoyed Sunny and we enjoyed the yummy half chicken!
We plan on returning this year too.

I think his first name is "Sonny" rather than "Sunny". I have a photo somewhere that has his name on it but I can't locate it at the moment. I can't believe we've been going to WDW since 2003 and it was only this year that we discovered Sonny Eclipse! We've even been to Cosmic Ray's before, but didn't realize there was something going on inside that inner room inside the restaurant.

:rotfl2: Talk about a brain fart! I totally knew that, but the typing fingers must have run away without me- thanks!

Reminds me of the Space Quest games. Those of you familiar (and love them) should be saying "oh yeah" and smiling right about now. :)

Cosmic Ray's is a must do every trip.

We have gone a few time but mainly because that is the side of the park we were in when we got hungry.

WE HAVE NEVER SAT IN THE "SONNY" SECTION!!!

Have to try this next time....hopefully an early lunch will help with the crowds.

I remember being surprised at the size of the portions.....BUT I absolutely AGREE that it is very difficult when everyone wants different things.....between finding a table and standing on two lines I felt I had a work-out before lunch!!

Yes we have always loved Cosmic Rays and it used to be a must every trip when all the kids were with us. However, we were disappointed when they cut back on the great condiment bar they used to have. It is very small now and limited to burger type stuff, but years ago you could get neat things to put on burgers like sauted mushroom and onions, hot jalapeno peppers, saurkraut, hot cheese sauce..it was great!!! They had the same type of fixings over at Backlot Express and we all loved it, as you could make some really neat burgers there.

Anyone else remember when Cosmic Rays had those great condiments...it went away maybe 5-6 years ago.

They had sauteed mushrooms and onions when I was there a couple of weeks ago. No hot peppers, sauerkraut or hot cheese sauce though.

I am sure it is great for a family, but I really hate it.

My youngest, the picky one, adores this place  ...so it's a must do every trip for our family! I think the burgers with the topping bar goodies piled on are pretty yummy. Of course Sonny Eclipse makes it fun too! It reminds me of Bill Murray's lounge lizard act on SNL...

Can anyone describe how to get to the area to see Sonny? Missed him last time I guess because of crowds or maybe performance times? :confused3

We eat here on every trip. We like it much better than Pecos Bill's. The topping bar is great and DS loves Sunny Eclipse!

We were there last year in July over the 4th (second busiest day of the year). We went to Ray's about 10:30-11AM, and had the place all to ourselves....

I didn't even know Sonny got a crowd! LOL

I believe in 2004 Sonny was being refurbished, so some of you might've missed him because of that. :confused3

Cosmic Ray's is a must-do when we're in MK. At least once per trip, if not more. We love their selections, and yes it does get crowded. But if you continue to walk around, you can usually find a table in a matter of minutes.

As far as the fixins...I don't know about the sauted mushrooms or onions (I don't like those, so wouldn't have noticed them), BUT I am a cheese lover, and they definitely still have the hot cheese sauce!! I've gotten some for my fries every time I've eaten there!! :woohoo:

Peco's Bills also has a big fixins bar...they might have the mushrooms and/or onions. :confused3

I remember we went there in 1990--we were on our honeymoon and I remember sitting in there while it poured buckets of rain. Can't remember the food, just the performance and the rain.

So last year--15 years later and 15 years since we had been to Disney that first time, I had Cosmic Rays on my list of places to eat at. Once I walked in the door, I said ohhhhhh, I remember this place. The food was awful we thought. The tables were dirty and getting the food took forever and a day. I know one of us had ribs and possibly the other had a burger.

Sorry, but the next trip I'll remember to keep Ray's off our list. It just didn't sit very well with us. Plus it was very empty in there the day we visited, that should be a clue. Especially when you have to wait in lines for hours for other places.

I feel that everybody should try places at least one time for their own opinion because you'll never find two people that like the same place, but we gave Ray's two times, that's enough.
