Maybe it's partly because I lost my brother to childhood leukemia, but I just can't get this sweet little girl and her family off my mind. In May, healthy little 16 month old Layla Grace Marsh was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma.

You can learn more about her and find updates at http://laylagrace.org/. There is also a Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=info&gid=303605599757 and a twitter page http://twitter.com/LaylaGrace. Her twitter followers include Ryan Seacrest who interviewed Layla's mom, Shanna on his show http://www.ryanseacrest.com/blog/whats-happening/twitter-community-rallies-support-for-layla-grace/.

I will be hugging my children a little tighter and a little longer.

I have been and it's simply heartbreaking. :sad1:

Her dad's most recent post "Not Like This" brought me to tears.

I haven't. Just found out about it. OMG!! I can't stop the tears from falling long enough to type this. And here I am COMPLAINING about my problems. My problems are NOTHING compared to what this family has to endure. I need to keep this little girl and her family in my heart. And may that put a seal on my lips to stop complaining. My problems are a grain of sand compared to their seashore. May God bless them, may he give them peace and comfort.

I haven't looked at the twitter page. I just read the "Not Like This" posting and I just can't go any further.......:sad1:

I too have been following Layla Grace and her family. I read it every morning when I wake up, throughout the day and before bed every night. I pray for peace for the family. What a tragic story. God bless her soul!

YES!!! I have been doing the same ---- it is heart breaking! :(

I have been following her daily too. And in case anyone is interested, colesfoundation.com features kids like Layla every day. Terrifying how your child can be fine one day and horribly sick from cancer a few days later. They all need so much support.

There are FB groups of people doing fundraisers for Layla as well. You can search them.

I have made an effort not to follow....

Sadly, I followed a friends daugher as she lost her battle with NB. She was only 9 months younger than my own dd and lost her battle at age 3. It was one of the saddest things I have ever witnessed, and I cannot bear the thought of yet another family facing this fight.

I am so glad that this family has been able to bring so much attention to this horrible disease. I hope they can find a cure soon. In the mean time, I pray and pray and pray for all famiies who have been touched by this...but I just cannot make myself keep up with the details...again.

Although very rare, this is a horrible cancer. Heartbreaking. A friend of my sons died last year at age 6 from this. He died about 9 months from diagnosis. I truly can't imagine going through that. I don't know where people find the strength. He was a very positive child - he often said "it was the best day ever" even once he got really sick. He didn't know he was dying. His parents kept a blog and wrote about the day he died (4th of July). His mother said he was going to see God and he panicked. She thought she had made a horrible mistake telling him. Once they calmed him he thought about it for a few minutes and said he was ready and he slept for awhile. A few hours he later he opened his eyes - eyes that had been crossed for about 6 months were again stright and clear. He raised his arm to the sky, an arm he hadn't been able to move for a few months, and died a few minutes later. The story sounds almost unbelieveable but I know these people personally and I know it is true. I am not a religious person, but they are. Their faith keeps them going. It is so sad, but in a way inspirational. Definitely makes you appreciate your kids.

my sister lost a close friend and classmate to a brain tumor in the 5th grade. They had been in the same class since K, and he ahd been going to St. Jude for treatment for much of that time. It was tough on all of us. I hope this family can find some peace.

I have been following Layla Grace's blog for some time and she isn't doing well. Please say a prayer for this family and wonderful little girl today, if you haven't already.

This is so heartbreaking.

There are no words, it is heartbreaking. We have a friend who lost her DS to a similar cancer to this, he'd be 5 now. It really does put life in perspective for you.

Rest in peace little one...you have touched so many hearts.

"And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them." Mark 10:13-16

That is heartbreaking, at the same time it is good to know after everything that she went through she has found peace.

God bless Layla Grace's family. Please comfort them .

Praying for strength, peace and comfort for sweet Layla's family. It has been an honor to follow along as her family navigated this heartbreaking journey. Rest well in God's arms, sweet Layla.
