We're planning on travelling with my DSister and family next year. Has anyone done any of the Grand gatherings? I'd love to hear some feedeback...good, bad, worth it?

Have done the Safari Celebration Dinner and the Magical Fireworks Voyage.

Loved the Magical Fireworks Voyage. Hope to do that again.

After doing AKV concierge, the Safari Celebration Dinner is second tier, but it's okay and fun.

I must be out of the loop on this subject...what is a Grand Gathering event? Based on what I see here already I am interested but can someone give me a little bit more details.....:surfweb:

We too did the Safari Celebration. I treated all my friends and they absoultely hated the food (lucky they didn't have to pay!!) and we also did the fireworks cruise, which was not that much better. We had nine of us over from the UK and I felt it was a chance of a lifetime. It wasn't great but it was something the three of us could never do so something different seemed like a good idea at the time!! It was pricey for me but unique and of course you get your grand gathering pins and badges.

We did the fireworks cruise too, which I thought was fun. I was disappointed that there weren't more events to choose from, especially some that were inexpensive. The best part though, is that when you call to make your ADRs, you get a direct line. This leads to my last complaint, which is that there are hardly any restaurants that will guarantee seating for a large party. We are planning our second trip for 13 people, and only Ohanas will guarantee that we are seated at the same table. All the other restaurants split us into two or three tables. It does usually work out once we arrive and sometimes they put the tables together for us, but I still think that Disney should be accustomed to such large parties and should have seating for us.

We've done the Illuminations dinner as well as the Safari Dinner. Neither event was particularly great in itself, but the camraderie of everyone getting together and sharing the experience/the fun made either event well worth it.

I have done the Safari Dinner. The event was decent. I mean it isn't anything that would blow you away but it was good.

We planned an event with a bunch of other DVC members who were all traveling at the same time and that is what made it the most fun. I think getting together and doing something a little bit special makes it worth it.

We doing the fireworks voyage and Good morning breakfast for the first time in December. They look like fun. Can anyone expand on the pins you get? Are they button pins or Disney Trading pins? (Not that I would trade, it would stay on my lanyard.)
