Anybody checked out Epcot's tequila cave?

Now they're gonna all show up wantin' us to buy first round! Which is, of course, how I roll. I buy the first, and usually the second. By the third... heck, you can probably convince my drunk butt it's my turn again!

Richard/Tralfie

So umm...when are you going to be there? :lmao:

Just so everyone out there knows...just because we're used to paying NYC restaurant and bar prices, doesn't mean we are rich! :rotfl: We're just numb to prices at this point!

I arrive next Saturday! Whatcha say we start with a round at the Rose & Crown, then head over? LOL

I'm in the money, cause this trip is being paid for my my best friend's beau (it's an Xmas gift for his family, and since I did all the planning, being a big ol' Disney nut, I get to go, too!)

Oh, you're so lucky. I don't go until the middle of July! After the couple of feet of snow we just had here (and NYC actually getting a snow day...AGAIN! I'm a teacher), the trip seems so far away! I mean, I can't imagine dealing with the heat with the way the weather has been all month here!

Cava del Tequila is definitely on our list. We're also returning to Biergarten for dinner one night, and we love the beer sampler there! DH also loves Labatt Blue (he went to SUNY Buffalo), and I saw it on Le Cellier's menu! We have a dinner ADR there one night as well!

Why am I not surprised by your extensive knowledge of the tequila bar?

You've only seen my last visit to the tequila bar. My first visits were chronicled in that Gluttoberfest review in my signature. I went there just about every day!

Thanks for all of the info & the menu! We will be stopping in during our December trip. No food for us because we will be doing DXdp and not paying out of pocket. Now the Margaritas that is a different story...will be enjoying those for sure!

I'm thinking that stopping in for a Margarita sampler just before Illuminations sounds good. I think that I'll pass on the food.

Can't wait to try it at the end of the month! I'll be soloing, so won't be worrying about dragging my sons around and hurrying through.

Best margaritas ever!!! We loved this place last Sept when we were there....we actually hung out for a while.

One note though, it's really more of a bar so it's not the most child-friendly place in the world....unless you would take your children to a bar at home in which case, you're good! ;)

Here are some pics of our drinks:

Jalapeno margarita - surprisingly refreshing!

My favorite was the Durazno (slight peach flavor) it was sweet but not too sweet

Aww, that's a bit of a let-down. We will have our boys with us...they will only be 3 and 5. Definitely not good to take them to a bar! Do you have to drink the margaritas AT the bar? We do have a lunch ADR one afternoon for San Angel Inn and I am wondering if they would allow us to buy a margarita at Cava del Tequila first and bring it into the restaurant with us. That way I could at least enjoy one of their margaritas. If not, I could get a regular margarita at San Angel. But I gotta have my margarita!!!

You can absolutely get margaritas to go there. They have plastic cups for that purpose. Just walk up to the bar and mention you want it "to go".

You don't have to drink at the bar, but the whole place is a bar-like atmosphere. But you can definitely take their margaritas to go. I've seen lots of people walk out of there with cups.

There's now a prickly pear margarita (I believe the Durazno was removed to make room for it) , and they've taken the Spanish translations of the margarita names off the menu; no more "naranja roja" it's just "blood orange"

There's also a report that they will not serve the margarita sampler after 4 PM so unless they've changed that you won't be able to get one right before Illuminations.

You can take the margaritas with you, they'll put it in a plastic cup. Glass containers may not be removed from the pavilion, although you can take one to San Angel if you're eating there. There is no seating AT the bar itself.

My friends had their 2 year old there this weekend. He had apple juice and chips.

People definitely do bring children in there, but there are usually very few and w/ folks doing tequila shots and the atmosphere, it's really a bar-like feel.

Note: children are allowed, just that its more of a bar and less of a child-friendly restaurant (as most wdw places are) :goodvibes

My Dsis will be coming in with me whether she likes it or not!!! I have been dreaming of this place since it opened. Shes 13 though so she will probably get a kick out of it anyway.

Do they have multiple non-alcoholc beverages of just the mango smootie someone mentioned before??

Me and my jalapeno margarita last Oct ... definately a must try, as it was one of the best I've ever had !

Odd...I must have been there on an off day?

I went during marathon weekend and had the blood orange margarita. It was pre-mixed. They just poured it out of a container into a glass with ice. It was just "ok" and I am a HUGE tequila fan. I order margaritas everywhere I go - I really didn't think this one was anything special - which was disapointing considering how excited I was to go there.

that said - they did have a great collection of tequila and next time I go to WDW might go back and just drink it straight instead of going the margarita route. Oh - and the guys that worked there were awesome!

I have had at least six or seven blood orange margaritas since the opening day in August 2009. The last one I had was on Sunday Feb. 28. They have never been pre-mixed. I have always watched the bartenders mix them and they pour in the juice and the tequila separately.

Hmmmm, are you sure you ordered the "specialty" margaritas? None of them are pre-mixed....maybe the one you ordered was frozen?

I hope you give it another try someday :flower3:

I'm 100% sure I ordered the specialty margarita (the blood orange one, foam on top included) and it was DEFINITELY pre-mixed.

In fact, as the bartender was pouring it he said to me out loud that since it was so popular it was one of the pre-mixed margaritas and not to worry - it would still be good - and I watched as it came right from the white (ish) plastic containers that bars use for juice and into the glass. The only thing he added was the foam to the top.

I'll still go back - but for straight tequila only (or a frozen fiesta margarita - those are hard to resist - they just shout "Epcot!" to me)
