Anybody Been to Mickey's Backyard BBQ?

I asked this same question a few months ago and atleast I got a few more replies than you so I thought I'd pass along what I was told.
In a nutshell, I was told "don't bother, waste of time, don't even go there etc.":lmao: I was really suprised as usually the standard reply for most Disney Restaurants is "try it at least once." Good luck making your ressies :thumbsup2

I took the advice of the masses (o.k.- one real, very valuable response, and lots of other "whispers"...;) and cancelled the ressie. I REALLY don't want to blow 2 TS credits of cold, rubbery food and a mediocre show. Thanks!!

---- JUST SAY NO to Mickey's Back Yard BBQ! The only good thing about this dinner was that beer was included!
It was extreeeeemly chaotic - loud - and I have never seen so many pushy parents pushing their way to the front of the line so there kids can dance with Mickey & Friends. So if you want to set a good example for your children, you may want to avoid this dinner. If you choose to go there, skip the food so you will have more room for beer -- you'll need it.

While we had a good time, the food was so-so. Not one green thing available on the buffet, so for any on weight watchers, there was no "no points" options to fill half your plate!

My girls really enjoyed it, even though it was HOT -it is in an open air pavilion. If you decide to go (and I still thought it was worth attending once, albeit we were not on the dining plan and I can't remember how much it cost), do yourself and kids a favor. Sit back, eat popcorn:: and take your time getting on the floor. All the pushy parents backed off after a while, and the characters had more freedom to move around. My girls just liked to dance, and when Minnie joined them, it was exciting! We had already seen the characters earlier in the week, so it wasn't imperative that we get a lot of face-to-face time.

We really didn't like it either. I think the Hoop de Doo is soooooo much better. DD who was 3 had fun dancing, but it was really hard to keep track of her. The character interaction is good - they dance with the kids on the dance floor - which is why it was so hard to keep track of DD.

The food seemed very "cafetaria-ish" to me. Not very good at all.

We went our last night of our trip a few weeks ago. I am going to do a review of it when I get up to that day on my dining review, but I'll sum it up for you. My DD8 didn't eat a thing and asked to leave after about half an hour there. I thought the food was okay. I am convinced it is the exact same food as Hoop De Doo, just served buffet style. Overall, I'd vote for save your money!
