anybody at WDW now, how are the crowds?

Bump....I guess its not busy cause it dont seem anyone is there to answer....LOL

I'm wondering too for 2007. I've asked as well and didn't get much response. Place must be empty!

Okay, I think I'm learning more about this time of year. It depends on when the 1st is. Next year, it's on a Sunday. Which means the days following will still be crowded because school will still be out. It seems that most schools have several days after the first off no matter when the first is. And I believe the weekends are always going to be busy no matter what time of year. Please let us know oh great and wise Disney experts if I am mistaken and let's help wonderlandaddict!

My sister is there right now.

Sunday did not get busy in MK until after lunch time.

Sunday night at EMH in MGM was not crowded. They did 5 attractions in 1 1/2 hrs with 4 young children.

Monday at MGM had low crowds as well. At 2pm Little Mermaid had a 5 min. wait. TT had 30 min. wait, but the fast past was not a long wait.

We were at all the parks for a little over a week. We parke hopped the last 3 days so saw conditions at MGM, Epcot and MGM on the 3rd, 4th and 5th. Once school started, the crowds disappeared. There is a marathon at Epcot on the 8th, so it may be busy again this weekend. After NYE and NYD, I felt like the parks were empty. In the afternoons, it seemed crowded around the most popular rides, especially ToT and RnRRR at MGM, but the wait times weren't bad.

We had planned on going Dec. 31 through Jan. 9 next year, but because of when Jan. 1 is falling and reports of high crowds last week, we are changing our plans to Jan. 21 - 30. We won't be there for my son's birthday now (or mine), but I would rather have the low crowds!

I'm leaning to going in September instead of January 3-7 of 2007. I may prefer the heat to the crowds!

My sister's stay is 1/1-1/10. I'll ask her to report on the crowds.

I don't think the crowds will be too different next year. The schools around us will all still have to be back the first work day after NYD, which is Monday the 2nd.

We are going to WDW after our 12/24-12/31 Magic cruise. :jumping4: So, our dates are locked into 12/31-1/4. Low crowds would be nice since my DS8 and DS10 have not been for over 4 years.

My BIL & his family left to drive down this afternoon. He will run the marathon this weekend. I will get a report on crowds and post as soon as I get the info.

We were there this past week 1/1-1/4.

Saturday 1/1 at AK: arrived at 8:00 PM when park opened. we had virtually 5-10 min waits for everyting in the morning until about 12:30-1:00 PM when the park started to get crowded. Went to Epcot for late afternoon/evening, very pleasant crowd wise.

Sunday 1/2 at Epcot: arrived at 8:30 for 9:00 AM opening. Unfortunately they did not open until right at 9:00 AM. 5 minute wait for Mission Space and Test Track. By 10:30 there was 30-40 minute wait for TT. Crowds were manageable most of morning & early afternoon. Went to Magic Kingdom in the evening: crowded as heck! 60-70 minute waits for Peter Pan, etc. What a zoo! It was a mistake going there in hindsight. Left and went back to hotel

Monday 1/3 at MGM: Arrived at 8:30 AM for 9:00 opening. Again, did not open early. First in line at Tower of Terror, then waited 5 minutes for Rock n Roller Coaster. Did Little Mermaid with no wait, Indiana Jones Stunt show no wait, 5 minute wait for Star Tours, walked onto Great Movie Ride, 5 minutes for Muppet 3-D. By 2:00 PM only a 30 minute wait for Rock n Roll, so not that bad of a crowd. Fantasmic show was still jam packed though.

Tuesday 1/4 at Magic Kingdom. Arrived again 8:30 AM for 9:00 opening. DID not open early, Darn! Went straight to Space mtn, walked on, went back to Thinder Mtn and Splash Mtn, 5 minute wait, did Buzz and teacups with 15 minute waits, Pirates of Car had 5 minute wait, Philharmagic walked on. By the afternoon it was a bit more crowded, with 30 minute waits for Pirates, 40 for Space mtn, etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that helps alot. I think we will try the first week next year. Now that we have a daughter in college it is very hard to find a week off all together.
We went this past June & we all said NEVER again, we can't take the heat & crowds both!! :cheer2:

We just returned from our trip 1/1 - 1/10. We had a fabulous trip. Although I hear a couple people complain about the crowds, this seemed to be people that did not really know how to plan. I even heard people complain about the 20 minute waits that we experienced most of the trip (these people should try to visit during spring break!)

On Suday we went to MK, almost no crowds until lunch. We pretty much walked onto most rides in fantasy land, but used fast pass for Pooh. By lunch time the park seemed pretty crowded. MGM for EMH - there were no crowds, I think you could have done most of the park in 3 hours. Even EMH for MK was great. Although it was pretty crowded, the lines were also manageable in Fantasy Land. We went over to Alladin and Pirates and they were empty, no wait at all.
As the week progressed we found the parks to be very manageable. We never arrived at a park before 10 and managed to do all of our must-sees by around 2 or 3 by using fast pass and filling in with other rides. By late afternoon the lines were longer so we took a break at the hotel. On Sunday (1/9) we went to Epcot in the afternoon just to ride Mission Space and TT. At about 2:00 MS had a 15 minute wait and the fast pass for TT was for 1/2 hour later. Although the park felt crowded from the marathon it seemed people were not going on the rides.

I would definitely return during this time of year. We were concerned about crowds from New Year's and the marathon but really did not have a problem as long as we planned well.
