any1 going in december 17 2005 on the west

Sandra, :sunny:
It seems you have plenty to do to keep the time flying by. You and Diane both teach. Any more educators on our trip? Now we know who to ask all the hard questions when they come up.
I'm retired early, I just lounge around all day. Not as great as it sounds, but i keep busy. There is laundry, cooking, floors to scrub , errands to run. I can't figure out how I ever got it all done when I worked full time too. I admire you ladies who accomplish all this and raise your family too. Of course we are at Disney almost every weekend, and that is great. :Pinkbounc
As the time draws near we will all have to plan a time and place to have a quick meeting so we can have faces to go with all the letters and names. We did that on our last cruise and it was really fun to finally have a face to match the names.
Have a great trip to BC this summer.

Diane (khakis mum) and I are both homeschoolers from the same area. So, we are doing a lot of our lessons together this fall in preparation for the coolest field trip ever! Waiting is the biggest struggle, but I like Kathy's idea of a project a month. Gonna have to do some planning on that! :goodvibes

I think I need to call my mom and ask her how come she never home schooled me and took me on such a fantastic field trip????? :confused3
Of course when I was a kid, DCL didn't exist. come to think of it WDW didn't exist either. I won't say if Disneyland existed when I was born, Just say it's a close call on that one.
Looking forward to meeting you all in December, :hourglass

Hi everyone,
Haven't been on in a while - been busy with the first part of summer activities. My DS's and I just back from a week of Boyscout camp. I didn't even realize while we were gone that our 6 month until time to cruise came and went. YEAH!!! It is getting closer and our group is getting bigger. Everyone have a great week.

Hi everybody, I haven't been on the boards for a while! To waste time, my family makes a chain to count how many days are left. We also go to Disneyland because we have season passes.
I am a boy ( of course ),and I am 11 years old. I have a bro that is 13.
Well....see ya on the cruise!

Hi Cruiseman:

Good to see someone else is making a chain to count the days. We have been counting since 609 days. See you on the cruise. It is starting to get close now. With summer and all, time will go by quickly. Maybe you will meet my son on the cruise. He will be 17 by then.

Howdy Cruiseman, :wave2:
Hey there are a few other guys and gals back a ways on this thread that wanted to meet people their own age. If you want to get aquainted with them just send a PM to Fonzy, or jgrant. I can't remember the the other names but if you go back to around pages 11-16 I'm sure you'll find them. It would be great to get aquainted with a few people before the cruise. I know Fonzy is 14 and has a younger brother who will be 11 at the time of the cruise. :cool1: They have done one disney cruise before .
Hope you make some great new friends.

Hey all! It's finally getting close enough to start thinking about excursions and obssessing over what night to do Palo!!!
Is anyone planning on dressing up for pirate night? I want to, just don't know how my family will feel! Any great costume ideas? I know you can get some pirate stuff at oriental trading.
Is anyone making door signs?

Hello:

It is getting very close. Yesterday was our 150 day mark for when we leave our house to go on our holiday. We are getting very excited now.

I would like to do a door sign but don't know a lot about it because this will be our first cruise. Can you tell me a bit about it.

Also, we are thinking of dressing up for pirate night. We weren't going to but it sounds like there is more fun to be had when you get right into it.

Take care,

We are planning on dressing up, last cruise we didnt have enough time to plan a outfit ( I had 2 weeks notice), after seeing others dressed up, I knew this time we were going to dress up too. We havnt made any decisions on just what we will wear yet. I'm going to look at halloween time to see what is out there. Also saw lots of women in peasant tops pulled down around shoulders, capri's that had been made to look ragged, some patches sewn on. Also there were some full skirts floating around including cast members on stage. Lots of striped (Verticle) shirts and pants with vests. Black boots, and sandals, some fishnet stockings(black). Most had ear rings, bulky necklaces, eye patches were everywhere and of course head bandanas were the most popular item, since they give out free ones at dinner to everyone so you can participate even if you dont have a costume. Those who were dressed up got lots of smiles and comments as they walked around the ship. It's a great time to let the kid in you out! No one thinks anything about the way your dressed, besides you'll never see any of those people again anyway. I overheard lots of people who didnt dress up saying next time we are dressing up too. Let us know what you come up with for your costume.
I've been thinking about a door sign, but not sure if I will do it. We made one once for our DD and her families first cruise. We put their family picture taken at Epcot with their names on it. It said something like the date and then the Bennett's family's first cruise. It looked pretty good. But iI have seen so many creative ones since then, I'll have to give it some thought.
Time is going fast, so I guess it's time we all get busy with any unfinished cruise stuff. Have a great weekend everyone,

I was just checking on this website to see if there were any news posts. If not I was going to write. LOL

We have been so busy here. Our kids go back to school in 3 weeks, where has the summer gone too.

pirate: As far as dressing up on the cruise for pirate night, all 4 of us are dressing up. I bought the kids outfits on eBay for less then $10 each. As far as myself and DH I am looking on eBay also but will probably wait until Halloween for us. pirate: Door signs I am not too sure about. I have no clue on that. I may have the kids make them. Let them do their own maybe. We shall see.

Have a great day :wave2:

WOW! we had slipped down a few pages...can't have that! :goodvibes
Khakis mum and I have decided that we are going to reveal our secret to our kids on Aug 6 :cheer2: ...I'm sooooooooooo excited! We are going to have a "scavenger hunt" on the lake by our houses. Now, we've just got to finalize plans...OOOOHHH, it's getting closer, and those among us who are obsessed are getting more so! We sat down the other night and planned out our curriculum for the fall...3 weeks on ships, 2 on pirates, 3 on astronomy, 2 on Robinson Caruso, 2 weeks on oceanography, and another 2 on Mayan civilizations. WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cloud9:
Am I the only one who is excited???? :smooth: :smooth: :mickeybar :mickeybar

KrHardy,
I wish I was in your class, that is way cool for the kids. The two of you are so creative. I hope the kids will realize just how lucky they are to have the two of you doing all of this for them.
We are very excited too. Our DD and family will be out next weekend and they will be on the cruise too. So we will do some planning while they are here. Especially for pirates night.
In case any of you are interested, you may already know this but in the last few months DCL had made Rock n bar D and Wave bands smoke free. They use to be smoking. So now each ship has 2 smoking and 2 non smoking clubs. For us this is great because DH is allergic to cigarette smoke. I did write DCL to confirm this and they did, I received a letter today.
Have a great week everyone, we'll see you soon,

WOO HOO!!!! 80's night, here we come!!!! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :drinking1

krhardy,

So glad that you and khakismum are going to tell the children about the cruise!!! No more having to worry about who is around when we talk about it, and my kids will be sooooo excited. :cheer2:

I also am very thrilled to hear that Rockin Bar D is non smoking. When we cruised last summer the smoke was particulary bad, and DH and I never stayed very long. Now we can party all night!!!

Made our last payment yesterday. I am soooo excited. Our cruise is completely sold out. We booked a GTY 12 cabin and ny TA said that we have a very good chance of a great upgrade. Woohoo!!

This cruise is paid for, time to book another LOL

Hugs

hi we are going on the Dec 17th cruise too. I just found this thread. i have an 8 year old dd and a 12 year old dd. I have seen some kids close to my youngest dd age but not my older dd. Are there any 12 year old dd's going? sorry i have not read all of the pages so i might have missed this. Also, my 12 year old dd friends are usually older than her, will she be bored in the kids club? I am worried that she will not have as much fun as my younger dd. thanks for any replies. :earsboy:

Calidisneygirl,
Wecome, glad to have you with us.
My GD was 12 on her first cruise. She had older friends too, but she had a ball. The 12 year olds had the priviledge of being the "oldest" A cool thing to be with kids. They did a lot of different things that the younger ones did not do. Such as Ghost stories late at night on the secret deck on deck 7. Pizza and movie parties and things like that. She will be 14 on this cruise and is looking forward to being with the teens this time. My GS will be 11 on this cruise. I'm sure there must be some kids her age. I know there are tons of kids going with us, too many for me to remember since my youngest is 23 years old. Now i concentrate on the GK's.
I'm sure one of the younger moms will respond to your letter and your DD's will both have new friends to make.
I'm sure the 12 year old will have a ball. The counselors are aware that 12 is a hard age to be and they try to do more teen type stuff when they can.
