Any X-ray techs out there?

I had an x-ray today of my foot. I've been having foot pain (without an injury) for about a week. At the end of the x-ray, the technician came back in and asked if I had ever had surgery on this foot. I answered no and she sent me on my way. Is this a standard question to ask? or is it possible something didn't seem right on the x-ray? My doctor thinks the pain is caused by the shape of my foot and when I walk all the pressure is hitting in one spot.

Any ideas?

My aunt is sitting right next to me and she's an x-ray tech - she said it's probably a standard question. They always had to ask if a patient had surgery on body parts they x-rayed.

I had mysterious foot pain a few years ago. Turns out it wasn't in the foot at all, it was a problem with arthritis in my lower back - the sciatic nerve was being pinched in such a way that the end of the nerve that is in the foot was irritated, but the rest of the nerve wasn't painful. The foot pain for the most part has gone away, but my back has gotten much worse. If this had been correctly diagnosed earlier, it would not have progressed so far.

Long story short: it wouldn't hurt to have your back checked out. So many times pain can be transferred from somewhere else.

Thanks for the info MyGoofy26. It put my mind at ease.

yzziesmom: I will take this into consideration. The pain has subsided and I was able to do a full workout today with a problem. Hopefully it was just a muscle strain or something.
