So they're open now.
I do want to share a personal rant. I had a cabin stay already booked for today and back when they announced the opening date of the new cabins I thought I'd try and change my reservation to one. I called the first day reservations opened to non dvc members and was told cash guests can't book until September however they put a note requesting a new cabin and to ask upon check in and see what they could do. I honestly didn't hold my breath since it is technically a different resort and reservation system
Fast forward to today, I asked at check in and was told that the loop was closed by one CM, that they were still under construction by another, and one CM just said they were for DVC only. Not a big deal. After checking in I drove through the 2500 loop to see what they look like in person and the loop is filled with media and news workers. It turns out they hosted a lot of them for free over the weekend and just had more come by to see how they look.
I then go to Trails End and while at the Settlement I saw that they were having a private event at Hoop Dee Doo for media, some sort of event at Tri Circle D and something at the marina, on top of that they had maybe 30 or 40 golf carts lined up at the Settlement ready for them (for free) and I saw dozens of people wearing media lanyards. The thing that bothered me about this is while I get you have to show off new things and get publicity, none of them were actually showing anything off. No cameras, not even phones. Just a lot of them cluelessly meandering around since a lot appeared to have never been here before.
I'm really trying not to come off as a Karen, but I really wish they'd do these things for actual paying guests instead. I can't find much on what happened at Hoop Dee Doo other than it may have been a reunion of the original cast from 50 years ago, which sounds awesome and would be awesome to have seen in person.
There are the two model cabins in the 100 loop. I asked a CM what do we have to do to tour them and they said just walk up to it and someone should be there. Nobody was there. I go to the DVC kiosk and... nobody was there. I asked a CM working with the event what am I supposed to do and they said ask the workers at the DVC kiosk, but no matter what time of day I went they weren't there. Not sure what's up with that.
This evening I drove through 2500 again to see if anyone was actually staying there. Of the 30 something cabins maybe 10 had cars or a cart parked in front. A lot had the windows open and you could see the TV on and the name displayed at the top was "Walt Disney World Guest" meaning there is no actual guest linked to that cabin and nobody is staying in it.
Man. I just want to go inside one

. Again, not trying to be a karen, but I wish they let paying guests see these things instead of clueless influencers.
Also, the "old" cabin I'm in, it quite literally smells like the horse barn inside. I don't know why. Housekeeping doesn't know why. I'm here for 2 weeks. Pray for me.
Also (again), this is the first time I've personally seen bad wear and tear inside the cabin. The floor is ripped in places due to furniture sliding on it. It's really bad next to the bunk bed. The refrigerator looks like someone took their anger out on it with a hammer. I've never seen that many dents before.
