Any word on discounts this morning?

Your argument is logical but your are removing one important factor from the reservation process - that is emotion. Do you know how many times in the past, off-season even, that I have been unable to get my choice on hotels when I waited too long. If I am going to go to the expense of buying non-refundable airline tickets and we are all going to arrange to have that time off from work, you'd better believe I am going to make sure I have rooms available to us in advance. Everyone is waiting for discounts to be announced for the end of August. I cannot imagine sitting here at the beginning of August not knowing whether or not I will be able to get rooms in three weeks. Especially when Disney offers all kinds of terrific rates to Florida residents on a regular basis.

I have plane tickets for Oct 1 to 6 and no room. I'm not overly concerned about it because I regularly check disney.com and almost every resort has rooms in every category. If there were few rooms I would be nervous but I'm willing to wait it out. My first choice is Boardwalk but if the discounts don't come out we'll stay at CBR and save some money. I really don't believe that the resorts are close to capacity for 8/24 to 10/1 that they willn't release AP rates. I tried various dates in September and there are empty rooms. They pulled this same thing in April with 4/28 to 7/3 rates, they waited until 4/21.

Fran,
If you plan on keeping your reservation no matter what happens, thats great. I see people saying that cannot afford the trip if they don`t get a discount and have rooms reserved. These are the people who should use there heads a little

I emailed customer service on the WDW website and got a very generic answer ...
" please know that seasonal discount programs are traditionally only determined and released one season at a time, and often not until the very end of the previous season."
This leads me to believe that they won't be out for a couple of more weeks as others have suggested.

I've also received an email for a free vacation (when I buy into the DVC) and a special invitation from WDW (to design my own mission space patch). Arghhhh, I thought they were both the coveted and mystical discount email.

We just stayed a night at Sheraton Safari and loved it! The kids loved the pool, it was very clean and has a neat slide. Everyone was nice, the room was clean and decorated very nicely. We decided we would stay there again for sure sometime.

I think Disney are aware that many people book in anticipation of AP rates. People like myself buy the APs to save money on resort rooms. Since the offsite hotels are doing some amazing rates for the next couple of months, if Disney dont release room only codes and AP discounts they will lose A LOT of business to off site hotels.

I agree with you. This is getting a little silly to hold out the ap discounts to the last minute.

Oh well, what can you do?

Just called, 10:30am on 8/7. Nothing yet. THIS CM stated that she didn't know if they would even be released for my time period of 8/24-8/29.
THis is probably the last time I will buy an annual pass, and definitely the last time I will tell the kids where we're staying before I have AP rates in hand.

Someone posted that a CM told them 22 August for next AP rates. That IS late......
Hopefully they will get sick of people calling them up for AP rates and release them sooner:rolleyes:

This makes perfect sense to me, since its my first trip with an AP and those are the exact nights we are staying. This is my kind of luck, LOL! ;)

Has anyone given CRO a call yet today..Friday???
I know Aug 22 has been talked about but how can they wait so long...... Quick question for anyone.
Disney Club reservations need to be paid in full when???how many days before arriving?
And room only thru CRO need ot be paid in full at arrival???Is this correct?
I have a split stay in Oct..doing a cruise in the middle. I have DC reservations for the first part but room only for the last part (two rooms with family) I have an AP so I will work on the discounts when they come out but I was not sure when things have to be paid.

Thanks...

Come on AP discounts we are waiting for you....

DC reservations need to be paid 21 days in advance still with the 5 days prior to your arrival date cancellation. CRO room only balance is due upon arrival

I just called Aug 08 AM, given the same old song & dance about " any day now " or " maybe next week "....

I just called and the girl said I was her third call in a row with the same question and the AP rates are still not out yet just till 8-23. I have to go out for the day to bring my nephew to a baseball showcase and will have no access to a computer, so I figure they will come out today while I am gone. Oh well I will check back this evening. Joan

I went to WDW this spring and the AP rate came out on Monday and I was leaving on Saturday!
This is my first AP and now I find myself waiting for the rates to book another trip. And I am waiting and waiting and waiting. No more APs for me. With all the talk of room only reservations and all, I'll be going other places from now on.

This is very disappointing. I was considering buying an AP for next year's trip. I think FTP made them take their time with the rates. If they do FTP again next year, it won't be worth it to buy the AP. Good luck with the rates! I hope they come out SOON!:bounce:

I agree, this has certainly turned me off of the possibility of ever purchasing an AP for room discounts..I dont understand why everything is a big secret/game with Disney and room discounts. No other hotel chain does this.
