I saw this on the news last night and just signed up! I am hoping this will help to keep me motivated and help me loose the weight I want before we go to Hilton Head Island in 8 weeks. Here is the link to the web site and a little more info about it www.wisconsinchallenge.org/overview/
The Wisconsin Governor's Challenge has introduced the 2004 Spring Challenge to motivate kids and adults, individuals and groups, to have fun while staying active.
With the rise of obesity among kids and adults in Wisconsin, they face increasing health risks from diabetes, heart disease and cancer. We need to act now to make a difference.
The goal of the 2004 Spring Challenge is simple: get active for 30 minutes a day (or 60 minutes if you're younger than 18), five days a week, for six weeks. Adults will notice they have more energy and sleep better at night - and kids will find it easier to concentrate in school.
If you're looking for the right motivation to stay active - for yourself, your family, your workplace or your school - Governor Doyle invites you to take the Challenge. It all starts April 19.
I signed up as an individual in the Presidential Champions category. I am already exercising 3-4 times a week so I thought this challenge would help me "kick it up" a bit! It looks like depending on my activity I will be earning points. I guess I'll learn more about that after I go and exercise and then log my activity. There is a nice activity log that I printed to help me keep track of what I am doing and for how long. You also log your activity on the site and it will keep track of your progress.
Good luck everyone! I'm off to my treadmill to get started!!
