Any Westgate Owners? Info needed

I know Westgate has a bad reputation of the hard sell, but I am in a slightly different situation.

My parents have owned at Westgate for about 15 years. It is a nice unit for week 45(usually the second FULL week of November) before the Thanksgiving crowd. It is a double unit with the 2 bedroom on one side and a smaller lock off unit connected. We have always enjoyed Westgate as the unit and the resort itself is quite nice despite of their sales people's reputation.

Here is my question.

Bot of my parents have passed away and I can take over this unit. It is completely paid for and the only thing I have to pay is the maintenance and taxes(roughly $900) for the year. Since it is paid for and they have our money already, will they still force me to sit down with them for some sort of sales pitch(upgrade, I guess). Or once you own do they leave you alone? We used it twice when my parents gifted the week to us and they really didnt bother us much. A few calls for a possible meeting, but I just ignored the calls and they stopped bothering us the rest of the week.

We own at Westgate, same as you we enjoy our timeshare there. I do not know the info you are looking for but when u find out would you mind posting how u made out, as someday our children will be owners of Westgate hopefully without any problems.

Hi,

We are also owners at Westgate since 1998.

We love the resort and have always had the best time. The unit is beautiful and the staff are always pleasant. But when it comes to the sales people they are the most annoying aggravating people around.

When we check in they send us over to another counter to p/u our Welcome package. That's when the hard sales begins. I firmly tell them i am not interested and thank them and walk away.

We have resorted to unplugging the phone and completely ignore them. We never give them our cell phone numbers.
There were times when we first became owners and were novices we would answer the phone at 8 AM to the sales agent:( Not happy!! and I would simply hang up on them!!
We have not had any problems doing this.
Just be firm and tell them you are not interested and walk away.

Hope this helps
Liz
