My mom and DH have it in their minds that we are going to go to the Grand Canyon in May. They also want to go see Vegas (which I don't mind:) ) My question is....we are going to take 2 weeks and drive..uugghh....just how far is it from Las Vegas to Disneyland? How many days do we need to see Disneyland?

Thanks!

It's about a 5-hour drive from Vegas to Disneyland, and it's a long and BORING trip, but if you're driving then that's the way to go. :)

You can do Disneyland in anywhere from 2-5 days. It's best to get at least 3 days as that way you can relax a little and not fight the crowds as much. :)

5 hours isn't bad at all! There are 2 parks there? Disneyland and then California Adventures? I think we could probably fit in 3 days......depending on how many days they want to take for Vegas. We don't gamble but there is still so much to see. I know absolutly nothing about Disneyland. I do know I want to see their version of Fantasmic.

There also is some pretty cheap airfare from Vegas into Long Beach if you fly Jet Blue - There is good airfare from Vegas to all of the airports: Orange County, Long Beach, and LAX -

It is a long, boring trip - that is for sure - By airplane though, you are done in 45 minutes!

I have made the trip too many times to count and I really don't mind it. Nevada is mostly desert between Vegas and CA (which can be interesting to us Mountain folks :) ) but the San Bernardino Valley is beautiful. I say drive, it is worth it to see this beautiful country.

Have you ever been to Southern California prior to this trip? If not you may not even want to do Vegas.. there is SO MUCH TO DO AND SEE in Southern California.

Hec.. I love Vegas but we often venture from up north, down to Southern California for Vacations as there is so much to see in a relatively small driving area.. (however remember we here in Ca. DRIVE everywhere so our idea of a small distance is an hour or two drive to get anywhere) Mississippi is a long drive tho;) Happy trip planning.

We did do Vegas when I was 18...so that was 12 years ago. It was when they were just building Excaliber. My DH has never seen Vegas but IMHO all you have to do is drive the strip and go in one or two of the best decorated casions to see it. We don't gamble much so we would not do that.

Disneyland is definatly my #1 on the entire trip. Of course we definatly want to see the Pacific Ocean. What else do yall suggest that can be done in a day??

Go to Venice beach... thats always an interesting spot and then you can see the Pacific :) Or go to Long beach... it's got the aquarium and the Queen Mary :)

Oh the Queen Mary.....I would love to see that. How far is Coronado (sp?) from there? My DH has always had an interest in the Navy Seals and he would love to see Coronado....I would love to see the Hotel!

We always have fun in Hollywood. Do the touristy things like
The Walk of Stars, Grouman(bad spelling) Chinese Theater.. new name now but still has all the footprint/handprints etc in front., take in a show taping.. Price is Right is always fun!
There's the La Brea Tar Pits!;) Knotts Berry Farm can be done in a day and we always have fun there. We have never done it but I have heard it is a bit fun is " Tour to Stars homes" ya know the bus, the bushes and gaits, stars homes..
Venice Beach and Long Beach are way cool too!!

Not much else to add - if they're set on Vegas - you can see a lot in 2 days. There is soooo much to see in SoCal! I agree, 3 days in DLand & DCA. (there are park-hopper passes.) Staying on-site is fun, but expensive. Off-site is very close, & you can get some great deals on rooms.
We love to add Universal Studios if we have the time.

Long Beach to Coronado is a good 2 hour drive and then you have to take the ferry to Coronado I believe... not sure how long that takes though.

Coronado is beautiful, I would give it 2.5-3 hours depending on the I-5 traffic. There is a toll bridge to Coronado Island.
San Diego is great.. lots to do there too!.. Sea World, Old Town, Mission Beach, SD Zoo Tijuana.. Oh ya, while in LA you could take a day trip out to Catalina Island by boat..... Oh dear we have extended your west coast vacation by a week or two.. Come and enjoy..
btw.. we have very little humidity so that in itself is a reason to visit! California is beautiful in May.

LOL! Yall have me excited! I'm going to do loads of searching and looking! I think we could probably axe one day in Vegas...just say see the lights, okay...LOL! Like the Grand Canyon although its gorgeous you are not getting my big butt on a Donkey....so look say "WOW" and lets go!!

I was looking back at the May 2002 schedule. They did not start performing Fantasmic until mid June.

You might want to take this into consideration.
