I would love to do EMH but being from the west its makes it just so darn early to get up. If the park opened at 8:00 we'd catch the bus at 7:00 and get up at 6:00. That's 4:00 AM our time!!!

Just wondering if any other people from the west manage to do it. Thanks!

I'm with you Liz. That 3 hour time difference can really hurt, especially in the morning. I am looking forward to the evening EMH when we go in June, but I am also worried how crowded it will be at night. So far hearing mixed reviews, some are saying it is great at night, hardly any wait and others are saying it was too crowded for them. I'm waiting to hear more about evening EMH around Easter, when it it busy and can get a better gauge of the crowds for evening EMH.

In the past we did early entry because it was great to get a head start on the crowds, but we were really tired, but the sacrifice was worth it. But if evening EMH allows us to get extra hours in the park and lower crowds then it will be great not to have "sacrifice" sleep. :teeth:

Oh, how I agree! It's so hard to get up early in the AM 3 hours early. I LOVE that you are posting this because I have never heard anyone mention this before. We have 4 kids as well, so trying to get a family of 6 out the hotel door by 4 AM our time is almost impossible. Thanks for your post!

We have always gone after a few days getting acclimated to the time change at Grandma's house. Then we're ready to go when we get to Disney. Got any tips though? This fall we're flying straight to Orlando. YAY!

From SFO (or SEA/PDX/etc), one way is to connect on the UAL 10pm red-eye at LAX. This flight puts you in MCO around 6-6:30am. If connecting thru ORD/IAD/JFK/etc, the connecting flight gets in around 10 or 11am. Plus you have to pick up the rental car and drive to the hotel.

Typically, we get checked in (a quick shower helps minimize jet lag), and ready to hit a park by 8:30. If the same park had late hours, it makes a very long day.

The getting up 3 hours earlier to do EMH isn't much of an issue for me. I generally am up at 0'dark hundred for work so getting up at 6ish while on vacation is actually sleeping in for me. Plus, im planning on taking the red eye on my next visit so that should help me out some.

Maybe if you can manage getting up early and getting yourself out the door for EMH, you can head back to the room once you start coming down and take a little "rest". Rest time can be heavenly when you are in need.

Never do Morning EMH for this very reason. Looking forward to trying the Evening EMH this week when we head down. Leaving in 28 hours.

This last trip, I did a 7:45 breakfast at O'hana's for a good friend's birthday. That was the only way you'd get my butt out of bed before 9am on vacation. No way. No how.

We do it all the time. We make sure we're in bed early the night before (and by early I mean 10 or 11 pm). But we have young kids so it is easier to get up early than it is to stay out late if kwim. However, on the plane ride home our kids usually sleep the entire way even when we wake them up for the layover. They are back to sleep on the next plane.

I guess DH and I are strange. We have no trouble getting up for early entry EMH the first few days of our trip (when we really should still be on California time) but by the 4th day or so we are so tired, we'd skip just about anything to sleep in. I think we rest really well getting ready for the trip, so the time difference isn't really a big deal for us.

I always find that when I travel to the other coast I am usually tired the first day and then fine after that. If you suck it up that first day, get up early (which usually is easy your first complete day at WDW), and then spend an entire day at the parks; you will be more than ready to go to sleep early that night and therefore awake early the next day. Have fun!
