Any WDW pros? (wanting DLR perspective) - update pg 3

If you decide to do the Segway tour and he doenst want to try see if maybe he would like to go see the wide world of sports complex. Some of your days will be on the same days as EMH at night so If you cant get it all done during the day stay for the after hrs and enjoy it then. Depending on your timing you might be able to see wishes up in the castle thru the windows while you eating. Always allow for enough travel time and remember there are direct buses to all the parks so if you at AK and want to hop over to Epcot just leave Ak and head to the epcot bus stop. Have a great time on your trip. If you get a free day relax at Downtown Disney.

I've been to WDW 4 times, and I am looking at going to your park in LA.

Disneyland is actually not in Los Angeles. It's in Anaheim.

Can I please give my input here?

I live in Florida near WDW and am a WDW Vet. I have been a hundred times or more and go regularly. I spent my honeymoon at WDW even.

I went to DL for my first time in March and am going back again in October for my second trip.

Some things to think about: First of the place is amazing. Now, please note THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION!!!!!! Frankly, I think California Adventure is a waste of time. I'd make plans to go there to see it but until it's completed with the changes, I'd only do a half day, but THAT'S JUST ME.

DL is great! The rides are great! Pirates is 3X better. Indy is better than Dinosaur at WDW. Fantasyland is 10X better. Toontown is 10X better (at DL tha is), Tomorrowland is ok I guess. Maybe the same. I sorta like WDW's atmosphere better but DL has some great features.

Obviously the Matterhorn is GREAT! AND is the visual focal point more than the castle.

the thing I missed was, after you leave at night, there' not much to eat. the McDonalds closes early and you're sorta stuck where at WDW you leave and still have unlimited options.

DL is just great! I love it and look forward to see it again next month.

I see you have already gotten tons of great advice. I just wanted to say- have fun! I grew up going to Disneyland too (and I still go obviously), but a first trip to WDW is very special!!! I am sure you will have a blast. It will make the Disney park experience feel new again, and I am sure you will get that same special feeling that you got when you saw the DLR for the first time

My husband and I are also going to try The Wave on this next trip in December so let me know what you think if you are going before me!

If only I could get through the packing! Lost the entire day yesterday taking DPup for a test visit to the home of our friends who offered to take care of him while we are gone so he doesn't have to board at the vet. Not a day I could afford to lose, but sooooo happy as how well it went and he will be so much happier there than in a little kennel. And that means a nicer vacation for us, knowing DPup is happier (although he would LOVE to stow away in the suitcase!).

Also just wanted to add, still a few postcard pixie dust spots open if anyone wants some magic shared. (See here for details.)

Wow, reading through this thread made my head hurt. I think I've realized what it is going to take to get me to WDW. I need to hire a professional WDW trip planner to do it all for me, and I'll just show up and let them lead me around. Anyone wanna do that for me?

Haha, it sounds like that, but it really isn't- you can plan as much as you want or don't want. The big differences is the dining. When I go to the DLR, I usually only make 1 reservation (one special sit down meal) or none and we just wing it! But in WDW you have to plan out all of your dining and it is a pain. The restaurants are a lot better in WDW and there is a lot more variety, but it takes a lot of work to plan it out and you have to do it so early, that is the only part I hate.

And Disney Dreams- you sound just like us about your dog- too funny. We are lucky that "grandma and grandpa" are willing to drive 2 hours here to dog sit on our next WDW trip I hope you do a trip report! I would love to hear a perspective from a DLR vet at WDW for the first time!

Yeah, we made several ADRs. Better to have them then wish we did, right?

Our DPup is our child. Truly. Some people don't understand that, but... he really is. If we have to worry about him at all, we will not have a fun vacation. His well-being is the most important part of us being away. He is going tonight for a "test sleepover" at our friends while we are still in town. Shh, don't tell him. He doesn't know it yet.
