Any way to fix this?

I've been trying to organize my photos on my external hard drive. I made folders for each year and started naming/dating the folders to go into the 'year' folders. I came across a lot of pictures that I took in 2006 that have the date(in the shooting data) from 2005(I bought the camera in 1/06 so I didn't even have it in '05) Our Italy trip from 4/06 and before that say 2006- everything after that thru 12/06 say 2005. Is there anyway to correct that date in the shooting data? I corrected it in the folder name but I'm thinking in the future if someone is looking at family history they may get a bit screwed up. Its not a huge dilemma but it would be cool to be able to fix it. I must have accidentally changed it to 2005 somehow after 4/06.

Yes, exiftool can change the date in your exif data (where it's stored in jpg photos), as well as nearly any other exif data. It can even adjust it in increments, like move all the photos an hour earlier or later, or a day, or a year.

However, it is far from user-friendly... but it is very powerful.

Yep- def. not user friendly. I can't figure it out
I officially feel dumb. I have Image-exiftool -7.13 on my desktop -unzipped. I read the readme file and still can't figure out how to open a file with it.

You almost have to use it from a command prompt - go to Start, Run, enter "cmd" and hit OK.

There may be a front-end for it that would make it easier... Ah yes, here is one... it looks like there are others.

There's also one I just found called PhotoME, I haven't tried it yet but it looks like it does a fair amount of what exiftool does, only with a full GUI.
