Any way to find specific calorie counts?

I generally only eat a certain amount of calories per day, and I need to continue at DW- I have no interest in blowing all my hard work. When I go out to eat in "the real world" I choose what I am going to order ahead of time using the calorie counts on their website.

Anyway I can get this for DW?

What!! Are we supposed to count calories on vacation?? Aren't Disney foods Magically Calorie Free?? Oh my, I'm in trouble - big trouble. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I live all year long watching what I eat, just so I can go to Disney and make a pig of myself. My incentive for eating healthy is imagining what I'm going to look like stuffed into a bikini every year on Disney Spring Break. My reward for being good all year is the Disney Dining Plan and eating whatever I want for a week!

But seriously, I have never seen calorie counts for Disney. I usually just try the common sense approach - order lots of veggies/fruits, ask for dressings & sauces on the sides, avoid deep fried foods, get the sugar free desserts offered at counter service (they are quite good & my kids actually like them!), etc...

If you have been counting calories for a while you should be able to come close in just making good menu choices in attempting to eat right, with the exception of any food with sauces or dressing you may order.

I want to let go at disney. i really do. But i have a wedding with a dress I HAVE to fit into 3 days after we return :sad2:

Sooooo... I just don't know. Left to my own devices, I would just choose salads w/o meat the whole time, which is what I do if I am in doubt at home. . .but I kinda wanted to try some low cal things here and there - fishes, or soemthing.....Wanted to find out the ranges :(

Add to this, I'm a vegetarian (well, not strict, I eat fish). So basically, I have no idea what I'm going to eat and every meal is going to be a challenge :(

I eat subway veggie wraps about 6x a week. Do they have a subway? :)

UUGHHHGHGHGHGH!!!!!!!!

There is a very good (and scary) book listing the calories, fat content, etc. of most common restaurant foods called "Restaurant Confidential". It's written kind of "doom and gloom", but there is useful info inside.

Many people just tell you to use "common sense", but studies show even trained nutritionists and dieticians underestimate the calories and fat content of restaurant foods.

Good luck! :wave2:

Choose what you will have at each restaurant before you go and keep to it. This should make it less tempting to order unhealthy food compared with if your go to a CS or TS and look at the menu at all the food you wish you could eat.

Also, keep in mind that at Disney you will be exercising A LOT! Even going off the wagon at WDW food wise I manage to lose weight just by the constant walking.

Enjoy!

I don't know if you can find calories listed anywhere for the food served at Disney...unless it is packaged food with nutritional info on it.

When I was there I had just started WW and was really trying not to go hog wild. I told myself to get fresh fruits or fresh/steamed veggies as my side (if offered at CS), ate 1/3 of my entree and 1/3 of my dessert. You can still eat at Disney..just don't eat everything that you order. I would not be surprised, though, if you came home and found that you had lost weight!

Good luck to you and have a great trip! :sunny:

Can one survive on green lettuce leaves alone when walking their way around the "world"? I think I would keel over. I lost 100 pounds I am 5'8 and went from 230 to under 130 with tons of exercise and lettuce meals. I just went for it over Christmastime at WDW. Gained 10 pounds in 7 days. But loved every minute of it! Now if I could just get that weight off for next time...I'll do it again! :rotfl2:

I was worying about this exact thing, because I have been very concerned with what I eat lately.
However, I realized how excited I was about the food and pretty much all the food I'll be eating, as this is my first memorable trip to WDW and I start college soon. I'm going to *try* to watch what I eat, but in addition, I'm going to be usuing the elyptical for minutes every morning in the AKL gym and doing calisthenics before bed, which is what I usually do anyways.

Of course, this is avacation, and who REALLY want to work out?
You're a vegeterian, so you're eating options are limited anyways. I would just play it safe. Hungry at the parks? Grab an apple instead of an ice cream.

Little things that will really help in the long run so you don't have to stress over counting the million of calories you will most likely consume in a few days.

I don't think you're going to find those exact calories, but I would just try and eat sensibly, and avoid the obvious things that are bad (the fried stuff, ice cream, sodas, salad dressings, etc.) You'l probably be more active than you are at home too though so you'll burn more calories too.

I was drawn to this thread with a sick feeling in my stomach. In the way you look in the very very back of the fridge knowing you're going to find something you don't want to see, I read each post scared out of my mind that I would be faced with the inescapable truth that my beloved maple creme brulee has 1,000,000 calories or that they really haven't removed all of the fat and calories from the Mickey bars like the nice CM at the cart told me.

In the name of all that is good and right in the world, if someone actually posts the calorie content of the Disney food, PLEASE, send me a PM so I can turn off my computer until it is safe to return. Thank you for your consideration.

1) I have it on good authority WDW has found a way to excise calories.
2) Is this a great place, or what?
3) Of course they are not perfect!
4) Some stuff actually have one (1) calorie.
5) Thus, counting calories is really easy.

When I got a cup of (caramel) ginger ice cream from Lotus Blossom Cafe, I noticed that it had a label slapped on it that had ingredients listed as well as nutrition information. (It wasn't quite prepackaged like an ice cream cart goodie and the label had "Walt Disney World" on it.) I don't remember the calorie count, but I do remember that the container had 1.5 servings in it. LOL!

My suggestion would be to keep a food diary before you go and convert your daily calorie intake into servings instead. For example, a starch serving is around 80 calories, a 4-oz serving of protein is around 200 calories if it's lean, etc. As some mentioned above, you will be walking around quite a bit so it's not necessary to be perfect. If you can stick to simpler preparations rather than casserole-type stuff, it's a bit easier to estimate what you're getting; at 50s Prime Time, perhaps the fried chicken plate rather than the chicken pot pie.

But above all, enjoy yourself! You're on vacation!

See, here's where you went wrong... you should have scheduled your trip for after the wedding. ;) Then you could pig out!

Aside from trying to make smart choices, order what you want but only eat 1/3 to 1/2 of what's in front of you.

Remember to drink lots of water.

Usually popsicles have far fewer calories than an ice cream so... Itzakadoozie instead of a Mickey bar?

Good luck & have fun!
