I have to cancel a WDW hotel reservation by tomorrow. I've been sitting on hold for 20 minutes now. Is there any way to cancel a resort reservation online? I've tried accessing the reservation from my confirmation email, and also logged in under my Disney login but there doesn't appear to be an option to cancel.

You cannot cancel a resort reservation online...you must call in to do it.

No, you will have to call Disney to cancel a hotel reservation.

Thanks for the info. Still on hold :headache:

It's ridiculous to me that you can make a reservation online, but something as simple as a cancellation requires a phone call. I guess they assume if you don't have 30+ minutes to sit on hold you should just forfeit the deposit for your room. Annoying.

Finally done - spent 50 minutes on hold for a cancellation that took approximately 90 seconds. I hope Disney is reading the boards and is aware of how frustrating it is to have to jump through hoops like this for simple tasks. Hopefully they will update their online systems to allow for online cancellations (like every major hotel operator in the United States).

Yeah, I agree it's annoying. I'm pretty sure it's on purpose though. They could easily add the feature but they really want to discourage people from doing it. Unlike the other hotels, you are really more likely canceling your multiple day vacation instead of just a one night room. I think that plays a big part of why they don't want to give you that feature.

I think their room restrictions are the most annoying though. You can't book online the day of, you pay extra for more than 2 adults, the room is half the size that it should be, and you have to cancel a full week ahead of time. Those rooms must be magic though because I keep paying their crazy prices.

I feel your pain. I was on hold a total of 60 minutes and 1 second last night to add a few days to our reservation. It took maybe three minutes to get it done. It was ridiculous!!! I definitely took the survey at the end of the call.

Poor customer service to made people call in to cancel.

I wish there was!

I was on hold for 2.5 hours earlier today and now I'm at 2 hours for my second attempt. This is crazy!!

That's insane!! If they are going to require so many tasks to be completed by phone, they should at least keep the phone system fully staffed so these long waits don't occur. I assume some of this call volume is due to free dining, but even with that Disney has no excuse. They should be well aware by now that announcing free dining spikes the call volume & should staff the phone systems accordingly.

when you call do not select current reservation hit new reservation and you will get an agent fasterprincess:

Sorry for everyone's frustration. I do agree that they should allow on line cancellations.

As far as on hold, it has been this way since they announced the FD and then a RO discount. I got through late last week after several attempts and the CM was exhausted. She basically stated that there were no more phones to answer. Every single one was attended by a CM and the calls just kept coming. Looks like the discounts are working and there truly will be no more offseason.

I have tried twice to cancel and have just hung up. I'm in no rush but jeesh that's really bad customer service. Our call center at work, anything over 3 minutes and oh boy the you know what hits the fan from management, never mind the abandoned call rate they must have! :furious:

This has been the case since they began online reservations. It's ridiculous, especially when you consider that it's not a toll free number.
