Any Vintage Airstream Campers here?

Cool! congrats on your purchase! Ours isn't shiny and probably won't ever be. That was my thoughts too. I just wanted a decent shower and toilet. I don't need anything fancy and love things vintage. I had always wanted an old airstream and when we found this one it was love at first site. We looked for a LONG time to find one too, so when i found this one and it was in such good shape we jumped on it fast! Hope to see you sometime at the Fort. We are still trying to decide when our first trip will be. Maybe oct. or dec. of this year!
Its great to see I won't have the only vintage Airstream at the Fort :cool1:

This is actually our second Airstream. We sold a 1971 24' Safari last year when we added our 3rd child. Last month we bought a 1969 31' Soverign. It is going to be a fun project. To make sure we complete it in a reasonable time frame I made reservations for October and told the kids. This way they won't let us not be ready.

We have done plenty of camping all around Fl including the Fort in our old trailer. The only thing is that we have never been all shiney and perfect. It sometimes feels like poor cousins at the reunion when we camp in a park full of giant $100,000+ MHs. Of course we only paid $2500 so I guess it shows ;)

We began camping in a tent 11 years ago and I told husband I hated sleeping in the ground, not having a convienent potty, and keeping the kitchen in a box. He told me he was not pretty camper material and would prefer a backpack and a sleeping roll. The Airstream is a perfect compromise. It is not as plush as living at home, but it isn't as dirty as sleeping on pine bushes. We thought about pop ups but I wanted a bathroom (not a shower, just a decent toilet.)
When we checked out regular trailers it seemed that unless we spent real money it would be run down and not worth the effort. The Airstream actually appreciated- can't say that about many RVs.

Anyways, looking to get back to the FW after being away for 3 years.

We traded in our 20 year old Airstream for the MH a few years ago. Still miss that trailer, although we love the MH. We had a lot of great times at the Fort in the Airstream.

Congratulations on your purchase.

My grandparents have 1977 31' Excela that is currently going to waste. We spent many weeks in it at FW. It needs a lot of work now (frozen pipes, wall paper, curtains and interior are getting brittle, needs a serious polishing, etc). I hate to see it waste away, but at the moment there is nothing that I can do about it.
