Just wondering how many if any, vegetarians are on the teen boards.
I've been a vegetarian for almost 3 months but I've always wanted to be one, but my parents didn't think I'd be old enough to make a serious decision like that until I am 16 (which I am now). I am a vegetarian because of the treatment of animals and the health benefits of not eating meat.
So what are your favorite veggie meals, or things to eat?
Why are you a vegetarian?
Any helpful hints for anyone out there trying to go veg?

No, because I don't think me going vegetarian would help anything. I'm all for animal rights, but it's not going to change anything.

I'd rathar spend my time focusing on something that I have a chance of changing.

I used to didn't eat pork because of my religion, but since I'm now athiest I've been trying to at least give it a chance. But all thsoe non-pork eating years have altered my point of view on it.

As for other meats, sorry but I love them.

I need meat in my diet. I'll go crazy otherwise.

Yeah a lot of people just need their meat and I understand that. I am not some crazy vegetarian who will bite your head off and shove my views down your throat. I am just trying to find some other vegetarians to discuss things with.
But the comment made about not changing anything. Of course it changes something. Even if you just decrease the amount of meat you eat, you can help the environment. I am not going to get to deep into this, but if anyone wants to know, I'll post it.

I wasn't a vegetarian exactly, but for a few months I would only fish and poultry. I wanted to be a vegetarian, but my mom would have gotten madder than she already was...

I enjoyed it. I lost some weight, and I felt healthier. My skin looked better and I was happy. :) I think it's because doing that cut out some of the fast food in my diet.

It didn't last very long, but I think it's because I live in a house where we only ever have the food products my mother buys. Maybe once I move out I'll try again.

Yeah it's tough when EVERYONE around you is eating meat. My parents where a little skeptical in the beginning, but now they're all for it, and very helpful and understanding.
For 2-3 years I haven't had any red meat, then I cut the other stuff out 3 months ago.

No, it doesn't change anything. They're not going to kill one cow less or anything like that. If I don't buy the meat, somebody else will.

You are one person out of like 6 billion in the wolrd. You really think that by you stopping eating meat it will save the environment? How about try to stop global warming. That is a bigger issue because pretty soon there won't be any animals left not to mention humans. Youw ant ot to helop somthing petition again the use of gas cars and factories that do nothing but pollute.

Yeah but once again you're ONLY ONE person....right?

Pretty soon? You mean in thousands and thousands of ears right?

Nothing's going to happen with global warming in this lifetime.

Right that was what my point was. I think that both things need to be stopped but no matter what you do, without an army behind you no one will listen. I just think that the issues that are really going to hurt us in the long wrong aren't being dealt with at all. What is the difference eating meat and squishing bugs when you walk or just for fun or having an abortion?

No I am not a Vegetarian.I honestly couldn't give up chicken and meat.
I don't like ham though.

About the global warming thing,I think that we will be seeing SOME thing's in the next 50 years.
Right now we are just seeing stronger storms, snow during spring, etc.

Apparently you have not seen an Inconvienent Truth have you?
You should probably know your facts before you spout out something untruthful.
With the amount of Carbon that we put into the air everyday we are lucky if we have 50 years until the ice in greenland an alaska melts and the we lost millions of people and all of Manhatten, India, and China are almost completely under water.

Oh god don't even get me started on global warming.

If a few people choose to live this lifestyle, it DOES affect the environment, no matter HOW SMALL. I know it sounds lame or whatever. It's just personally what I believe. Not asking anyone else to do what I do.

Me get my facts together? Are you serious. Global Warming would take a looooong time to happen I don't care what some movie says.

Cows and people that eat cows contribute to co2 (carbon) emissions.

Yep. We all contibute it.

You can believe whatever you want to believe but if you have no facts to support what you are saying then I don't belive them.

I think tat you should do what you want. If you really don't wan tot eat meat don't do it becasue it will save anmals. It won't.
