Just curious to see if I am missing any secrets for my Trip that is coming up. If you have any advice I am all ears. :earsboy:

I have two info-gathering tips for you.

1) Go onto the DISabilities Board and post your question there as well. I have received lots of help and advice with allergy info and there have been threads on vegetarian and vegan requirements as well.

2) Log onto Allears.net, click the dining tab at the top of the page, scroll down and on the left hand side of the page you can select special diets. Vegan was there last time I went through it a few months ago and some people had actually posted reviews of their experience. Can't remember if there were photos of food as well.

There are a ton of vegan dining reviews around here. One set is by a user named v_gan and another is called "The Tower of Vegan Deliciousness." There might be others ... there are definitely other vegetarian reviews but those two are both by couples where one person is vegan and the other vegetarian.

Thanks for the tips. Hopefully there are some like me who can give me some first hand experience as well. Allears is great but it is very generic advice and tends to end every statement on Veggie options with "Ask your server". I am having food delivered to the room as a backup plan so I may end up eating a lot of Tofurkey sandwiches :hippie:

Thanks Tilly! Just saw your post after posting this one.

My sister is a vegan and has become an expert in Disney dining lol.

Counter service - There are sandwiches that can be made vegan at Columbia Harbour House in MK and Backlot Studies in DHS. It will take a little longer because they will have to make it fresh to leave off the cheese or sauce.

Sunshine Season in Epcot has good vegan options.

Animal Kingdom doesn't have good vegan CS options, or at least something that appeals to my sister. She loves, loves, loves Tusker House in AK so we do tableservice there.

There are always veggie burgers or simple salads but there are also different CS options if you plan well.

Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD has some good options.

Table service - You can special order an entree made up from any ingredients you see listed on the menu or have ingredients left out of a dish. You can also call a week ahead and speak with a chef from whatever restaurants you have ADRs, let them know when you are coming and that you are a vegan.

If they do not normally have tofu on hand at that restaurant, they can order some for that night and make you an entree not on the menu. My sister even has her own tofu entree made at buffets, and has one of the chefs walk her through the buffet pointing out the vegan options. Something may appear vegan, but as you well know may have something like chicken broth used in it that you can't tell just by looking at it.

Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget to check first about stock, seasoning and other "hidden" ingredients, which can change without notice due to substitution.

Has she been to AK since Picnic in the Park? They have a vegan wrap, and the tandoori tofu and zucchini was to die for.

Oh, that's good to know, thanks. We were there in August and they had the Picnic in the Park but we didn't really consider it, maybe next year.

While I'm not a vegan anymore, I was one on one of my previous trips to disney, about 6-7 years ago. This was before my knowledge of the dis and allears.net (which has a vegetarian/vegans CS guide to Disney <-- there is also a park table service guide and a resort table service guide, as well as strategies

I had purchased a book instead that was WAY out of date, and caused a rather frustrating trip, especially for my father. So my advice would be to check the reviews here, and the CS guide above, but more importantly, go with an open mind and understand that the information you're being given may not be 100% accurate for when you go, and be able to adjust your plans.

Have a good trip!

I'm a raw vegan, but at WDW I bend and just go vegetarian. It was just too difficult for me to find food and TIME CONSUMING but I know some people might find it strange that a vegan eats vegetarian while on vacation!

My boyfriend and I give step-by-step instructions on what to do if you're vegan! We also review many different sit-down restaurants and counter service places. You should check it out (link is in purple, right below this).
