Any Updates on Chef Mickey?? (Updated-Post 238)

Do you have to pay for the photo in cash, or can you charge it to your room?

We charged ours to our room in June.

That seriously just sucks Everything there is so expensive as it is. I guess they are trying to make some money back because of all the free dining they are offering. I'd rather pay for the meal and have Mickey at my table than a free meal and a $30 picture that I can get in the judges tent earlier in the day. I love all the candids I ahve from there the last two times we went. I am serioulsy bummed out.

Can't they have two mickeys, one wearing chef clothes outside taking pictures, one in regular mickey clothes visiting tables.

I was under the impression that they never put 2 Mickeys at the same location (or so close to the same location). Always seemed to be they were trying to keep the magic for the kids, of there only being 1 real Mickey Mouse.

The character interaction was behind us booking CM for our first night. DS has seen CM but we have never eaten there. He saw him and going up to all of the tables and was excited that we were going there this trip. Ugh! Now I am not sure what to do.

This is SO disappointing! I love to start our trip off with Chef Mickey's breakfast on our first morning. I already have my reservation for December, but now I'm going to have to rethink. I know it will still be fun with the other characters, but it would be such a let down not to have Mickey come around. The interactions my kids have had at the table with him have been priceless.

I think you're missing the bigger picture here. :

Right now (according to allears), you are paying $26.62/13.99@ to eat, and then another $30 for the photo. Absolute ripoff! Who would pay an additional $30. Now, if the photo was included for that price, it might mitigate the loss of the wandering Mickey.

Well, management has heard your complaints, and is now including the photo package. We are going to increase the value to our customers by including the photo in the cost of the meal. But, the cost of food is going up while we try and hold prices down and the photo materials aren't cheap. We still want to maximize value to our guests, so we are going to offer our meal to you for $33.99/18.99@.

I know it seems expensive, but it is still cheaper for a family of 4 than when the photo package was not included. The folks that complain about the new, higher price, are the folks that would complain no matter what. Don't let that ruin your vacation - come join us at CM, where breakfast will still only be 1 TS (until 2013). Remember, we love you and want you to return.

...not being able to get a reservation at the Crystal Palace

Mickey no longer comes to the table and I was so looking forward to my 10 month old interacting with him...He LOVES Mickey. I know I will see him in the parks, but this I was truly looking forward to. Now $30 for a pic with Mickey at the restauant. What a crappy, greedy thing for Disney to do.

I tried to get into the Garden Grill for any meal at so we could see Mickey there, but again, nothing is open ALL DAY. I ahve been checking for three days at various times for anything and I can't get a thing

If anyone knows how I can get the Crystal Palace for Breakfast for 4 plus a highchair, please let me know. Or the Garden Grill.

You can take your own picture of Mickey and just not pay the $30 when they bring it around.

This happened at my first luau. The dinner costs SO much that when they took our picture while walking in our first thought was how nice that they included a picture. And then they brought us the picture and asked for $30. We said no.

Only way to get reservations for something already booked up is to keep an eye on the cancellation threads and try the online reservation system 10 times a day.

Was this reported somewhere that Mickey doesn't come to the table and is part of the pre-meal photo now?

I haven't heard that and before the photo was just your family and the plate with Mickey's picture on it.

According to another site (instead info it has magic) there is rumor floating around that CM is going to change. It seems Mickey is no longer travelling from table to table instead only be at the podium for pictures. I guess they aren't selling enough pictures. Only a rumor but any thoughts?

Honestly if they would just reduce the price of those photos more people would purchase them! They print them and then shred them. If they just halfed the cost look at how much more they could make on them!

I have 3 CM reservations next month since we are staying at BLT. I will be canceling two of them.

There is a poster on that thread who says they experienced this. Maybe it is true, maybe it was just being tried out, there's no way to know. The reports are very recent, within a day or two, so if a change was made it has not been long enough for it to be widely reported.

At any rate, it appears you can use your own camera to take family photos with Mickey, so you don't have to pay for the picture.

The only way to get the reservations you want is to continue to check the reservation availability. You can also keep an eye on the Cancelled Reservations thread for the month you are going.

Without Mickey showing up at tables, I doubt many people would be intersted in CM. food is so so.

Now how can we complain, what is CM manager phone number.
