Any Updates on Chef Mickey?? (Updated-Post 238)

I find this to be ridiculous! Are there any character breakfasts that have Mickey now other than at A.K? It was hard to find Mickey to begin with...

Thanks for this post! We're bringing our three year-old for his first visit in February and I thought CM's would be a great first dinner. I wasn't expecting much in the way of food and I didn't really care about the price...provided Mickey was going to come to our table! This is ridiculous.

I think I might need to rearrange a few things and do Garden Grill first if I want my son to have some good character interaction.

:sad2: Ugh...such a bummer! I had planned to try CM's on our October trip but I'm rethinking that. All I wanted was a pic with the Mouse but not for 29.95 and I can get better buffet at Biergarten!

You can find Mickey at the character breakfasts at 'Ohana and Tusker House, and dinner at Garden Grill.

That's what they do at TH with Donald and that's why we won't go back there again. In fact we normally book 4 or 5 character meals each trip but we've decided after our last trip this June not to do them anymore, the characters move through at such a fast pace it's really not a good value!

It is all about the profits. Seems like I say that all to often these days and not just about Disney. :sad2:

this is really too bad, if this is a trend they start doing it will really put a damper on character dining, my son is old enough that it wont be a tragedy to him, but as a family we really enjoy the character interactions and the pictures were a lot of the fun. all this will do is take a small peice of the magic away for us.
who should I email or write to and register my opinion on this? I usually send everything to guest services but arent the restruants a seperate entity?

wow... if this is so, the reservations I fought so hard for will be up for grabs... so check dining for dinner on October 27th guys.

It's not a new trend.

CRT - Cinderella in the lobby for photos.
Akershus - Belle in the lobby for photos.
With these two meals they include the photo in the price of the meal. The meals are thus more expensive than other character meals.

Tusker House - Donald for posed photo only.
Crystal Palace - Pooh for posed photo only.
I believe you CAN use your own camera to take a photo with the featured character though. Ask another diner to take it so the whole family can be in it.

I think the reason that this move is meeting with so much protest is that it's MICKEY. When they had Goofy for the photo, or a statue of Mickey, it wasn't generally complained about.

Additionally there are time at CP where Pooh will not circulate but will be available for photos/autographs (no photo package) near the topiary display.

As an adult, I prefer when Pooh isn't circulating and I can go up and get my photo when I'm ready. It has always been my luck, no matter where I'm dining, that the character I most want to see has been through my area just before I arrived and won't be back for another hour. Its much easier to get my photo away from my table (without dirty plates) rather than sit around long after we have finished eating. Even when we have kids, I won't enjoy waiting around and would rather be able to get a nice shot on my time, away from the table, with my own camera.

When did pooh stop circulating? I was there in June and he was with the rest of the characters. I know if you miss a character and your ready to leave they will grab the character and have him stand near the topiary. When did they make this change? I am not a pooh fan so I don't care.. but I am just curious!

From reports, sometimes Pooh circulates, and sometimes he waits for photos. Apparently it's also not the case that they take a photo with him to sell you a package. But it appears they think isolation of the "headliner" character, instead of having him or her circulate, is the way to go in a lot of cases now.

if this is true, it is a very bad thing. One of the reasons we LOVED CM when my kids were small was the opportunity to meet him and the others without standing in a line, taking a forced pic, etc.
I am glad my kids have outgrown the place, and in years past, just an FYI to the cm's doing photos there, we would have bought the picture many times over if they had managed to get even ONE decent shot of our family. They take awful pictures there!
the pics have always cost that much, but they are so bad......
